Uh,  don't be one of these 277 million Americans!    E.g. watch NHK,  France and BBC network.

Funny but that is my mom's favorite show!   (she is Japanese).    Often when I come over for lunch this will be on.   What is even more of a hoot is one of the top wrestlers isn't Japanese; (I believe he is from Bulgaria).  At first she didn't like the guy but now she is a fan.

But really NHK's English speaking evening news show is very 'balanced' and not like the gossip type crap shown on most U.S. so called news programs.

Ousted NPR news chief, ex-Fox News execs team up on new site

The site's founder says it will remedy the media's trust problems, but two top hires left their previous jobs after allegations of harassment and racism.

"One was ousted from NPR amid allegations of sexual harassment. The other left Fox News shortly after writing a column widely panned as racist and anti-gay. Now they’ve been recruited to help launch a new digital news startup with the stated goal of restoring faith in media.

Another former Fox News executive, Ken LaCorte, has enlisted former NPR news boss Michael Oreskes and former Fox News executive editor John Moody to join him in creating LaCorte News, which he said will be a truly “fair and balanced” alternative in these polarized times.

The site is expected to soft launch before the end of January......

It's too soon to tell how LaCorte News — which LaCorte said he’s launching with about $1 million, much of it his own money — will fare in a difficult business environment for media startups. LaCorte says he plans to largely rely on advertising revenue. But advertisers have been sensitive about being paired with controversial content and news sources. ........

Too much of the criticism of Trump has been overblown, too often about things that either didn’t happen or didn’t matter. That is not true of Syria/Mattis. This is a big deal, both in the substance of the Trump decisions and the way the whole episode was handled.

MSNBC’s viewership last week propelled the network to its first No. 1 cable news network “sales day” rating in 18 years

Fox has an audience that doesn't look at Diversified news or public affairs programming.

So it's understandable that other cable news outlets have trouble competing with them because their audience is so monolithic with a limited Target interest.

For MSNBC to be gaining ratings,

they would probably have to be:

taking  some audience from Fox,

getting more and more independents, who have been maybe on the fence or

Exciting Americans who previously had little or no interest in politics or news about the government before.

*Undoubtably an interest in the trump presidency has spurred more interest in the way that MSNBC critically reports on trump,

as opposed to Fox's generally pro-trump approach.

Sarah Sanders has ‘struggled’ to find a new job as the White House press office becomes ‘Night of the living dead’:

"....Sarah has all but stopped delivering press briefings. What were once called “daily” briefings have now essentially become “monthly” briefings — with emphasis on the “brief.”

The outlet also observed that Shah has removed the title “deputy white house press secretary” from his Twitter bio.

Meanwhile, it seems the press shop itself has been nearly abandoned. This is not much of surprise — Trump has long considered himself to be his best spokesperson, and he has proven incapable of sticking to any coherent media strategy. And part of the problem, an anonymous source told Yahoo News, is that no one credible wants to work for the White House press office.

“No professional in good standing will even interview for a job,” the source said. “It’s a zombie comms shop. Night of the living dead.”.....,

On a more serious note, her gay brother has accused her of being a toxic homophob.

He says she gets it directly from their father who was an alcoholic nazi sympathizer, a racist and a homophobe.

Reportedly, Laura outed homosexual students at her University, when she wasn't racially harassing her black roommate.

Apparently Dartmouth had their hands full with that one.

Missy Laura is off the radio for now, but she still has a podcast for those fans who still care.

.@realDonaldTrump leaves as abruptly as he entered without taking questions from reporters

after 1st appearance at briefing room podium flanked by border officials endorsing his demand for a wall

" With the government shutdown headed for the two-week mark with no end in sight, President Donald Trump had a succinct message for the press and the nation on Thursday:

Please look at me. ...

Sanders came onstage, floridly introduced “our very great president, Donald J. Trump,” and got out of the way. ...

Trump: “I said, ‘Let’s go out and see the press. You can tell them about the importance of the wall.’”

The president whistled past some troubling economic indicators to say that the strong U.S. economy is attracting immigrants (true) and that high-tech tactics couldn’t replace a wall. “I think nobody knows much more about technology, this type of technology certainly, than I do,” he said falsely. ....

This was truly a remarkable stunt. It was also, however, an entirely superficial one. Trump can attract eyeballs, but that’s unlikely to convince the plurality of the American public who blame him for the shutdown, to grow the small portion who think the wall is an urgent priority, or to bring the shutdown any closer to resolution.

Perhaps he’s saving all that for his second briefing-room visit. "

Heard she feels trapped and is looking for a new job, but can't find one.

Her father is working for Fox, but she isn't really the kind of on air female talent that they usually hire.

She looks as though things must really be bad up there now, but I can't imagine when things were ever good in the trump White House.

A funny thing happened after Chris Wallace grilled Sarah Sanders over the administration's false immigration talking point.

CNN and MSNBC both gave the exchange significant coverage. But Fox News, Wallace's own network, almost completely ignored it. https://www.mediamatters.org/blog/2019/01/07/guess-which-cable-news-network-isnt-talking-about-chris-wallaces-interview-sarah-huckabee-sanders/222435

Two thoughts about the TV nets and Trump's speech:

1. RIDICULOUS that they are caving after saying no to Obama on the same topic.

2. IRRELEVANT: Trump fought the 2018 campaign on immigration and LOST.

Anyone who agrees w/ Trump on the wall already sees 24/7 coverage on FOX.

If we give him the time, he'll deliver a fact-free screed without rebuttal.

And if we don't give him the time, he'll call every network partisan. So we are damned if we do and damned if we don't."

and he will carry on calling you ‘fake news’ even *after* you give him this prime time propaganda slot.
