CNN, MSNBC to air ad on American Nazis film, "A Night at the Garden"

CNN and MSNBC have both decided to air a commercial for a film about American Nazis, The Washington Post reported Friday.

The ad, which is for the short film “A Night at the Garden,” will air during CNN's “The Situation Room” and MSNBC's “The Rachel Maddow Show” on Monday, according to the Post.

The film is nominated for an Academy Award and shows footage from a 1939 Nazi rally in New York.

“We decided to dig deep and pay for television ads we weren’t planning to buy because we wanted to make the point that Fox News is out of the mainstream,” the movie’s director, Marshall Curry, told the newspaper.

“It says something that some news channels trust their audience to interpret American history while Fox distrusts its audience and doesn’t think it can do that.”.........

The film examines the 1939 rally held by the Bund, an American Nazi Party which attracted 20,000 supporters to Madison Square Garden on Feb. 20, 1939. The filmmakers say it is intended as a warning about the current political climate. They said they explicitly sought out airtime on Fox to reach supporters of President Trump.

“The point of the spot is less about rallying people who are already worried [about demagoguery] than reaching people who don’t realize how dangerous this tactic is,” Curry told The Post.......

Aviator Charles Lindbergh  was The Greatest American Hero of the post World War I era, having been the first human being to successfully fly nonstop across the Atlantic.

Lindbergh later became a leader in the America First movement and made many speeches at these Bund Rallys.

His association with this movement plus accepting honors and awards from Nazi Germany caused President Franklin Roosevelt to question his patriotism.

In response to FDR's criticism, Lindbergh resigned his commission as an Army Air Force colonel.

"Enemy of the people" is a phrase used by the enemies of freedom.

trump took an oath to Preserve, Protect, and Defend the Constitution of the United States.

Virtually every day of his presidency he has attacked the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

That should be reason enough to impeach him.

Clarence Thomas declares war on the very idea of a free press

Prosecutors could target journalists for minor errors, under his vision

".........announcing that he would completely rewrite the law of defamation — potentially to such a degree that journalists could be subject to criminal prosecutions for making truthful claims that embarrass the subjects of their reporting.

Thomas’ opinion concurring in his court’s decision not to hear McKee v. Cosby is an attack on New York Times v. Sullivan, a seminal Supreme Court decision “that prohibits a public official from recovering damages for a defamatory falsehood” unless they can show that the statement was made “with knowledge that it was false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not.”

No other member of the Court joined Thomas’ opinion.....

"GOP operative joins CNN" is getting a LOT of criticism, especially from Dems.

But love it or hate it, political insiders have been joining newsrooms for decades. The more viewpoints represented in newsrooms, the better. As for the critiques, @CNNPR declined to comment.

This really is worth clicking on and reading and seeing the video (attached to the article) that the guest recorded of the interview on FOX as Fox will never air it.  Carlson knows that too as he tells the guest to go f himself.

It's all about tax avoidance by billionaires and Carlson is a millionaire propped up by those billionaires.

Bregman, you see, was brought in as a friendly voice, a fellow who would presumably play along with the host. That very status gave Bregman enough space to turn the whole conversation into a referendum on Carlson’s own hypocrisy. “The vast majority of Americans, for years and years now, according to the polls, including Fox News viewers and including Republicans, are in favor of higher taxes on the rich. . . . It’s all really mainstream but no one’s saying that at Davos just as no one’s saying that at Fox News,” Bregman said in the discussion. Folks at Davos and at Fox News, he alleged, had been “bought by the billionaire class.”

Carlson didn’t immediately anger, though he did try to steer the discussion elsewhere. When Bregman persisted in his critique of Fox News, Carlson said it would be “interesting” to know how much Fox News the historian had watched.

After some more back-and-forth, Bregman showed that he’d really, really studied the programming values of “Tucker Carlson Tonight”: “I think the issue really is one of corruption and of people being bribed and not talking about the real issues. What the Murdochs really want you to do to is scapegoat immigrants instead of talking about tax avoidance,” he said.

Someone had to blow the whistle on Carlson’s high-wire attempts to portray himself as a hero of the regular guy, even as he enjoys the fat paycheck of a Fox News host. So scandalized was Carlson about the situation that he could resort only to nastiness, which he commonly deploys, and profanity, which rarely makes it onto Fox News’s air. “Why don’t you go f--- yourself, you tiny brain.”

You can't trust the NYT, the Washington Post, Snopes, or

who can upload a video to YT. Sure.

And like the typical right wing chump, you left out the rest of the post,

which changes the whole meaning of the sentence. You can trust, for

the most part, the NYT, the WP, Snopes, or Wiki. What it would be

foolish to trust are kooky conspiracy videos that sound like they

originated in a state mental institution.

This story, perhaps more than anything, shines a light on how an entire swath of the country has been effectively brainwashed.

Fox doesn't need the First Amendment, trump doesn't need the First Amendment:

It's the American people who need the First Amendment.

Trump promised publicly he wouldn't interfere in DOJ's handling of the TimeWarner AT&T deal - but in Oval Office he ordered Nat.'l Economic Council head Gary Cohn to get DOJ to block it, which would hurt CNN & help Fox.

Soon after, DOJ filed suit to block it, and lost in court.

A fiery statement from Sarah Sanders blasting Nadler and Dems for what she calls a “fishing expedition” against President Trump

D02_C5yWoAEuPAV.jpg

This is truly a sad deflecting statement.

More worthy of Laura Ingraham or Tucker Carlson at Fox than the American White House.

When things get this desperate and this pathetic in an administration, it's probably time for a lot of people to think about what's best for themselves.

Being implicated in crimes that you have not directly benefited from and/ or have not instigated is just plain stupid.

People went to jail in Watergate because of the cover-up.

Self-preservation is a basic human instinct.

Ex-Trump DOJ official to serve as CNN analyst, not editor, after backlash-

"Former Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores, who was hired last month as a political editor by CNN, will instead serve as a political analyst for the network, she announced Friday.

The role change for Flores, who previously served under former Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the Trump administration, comes after CNN faced considerable backlash from some members of the media as well as the Democratic National Committee after she was hired to help coordinate the network's 2020 political coverage....
