Swing Time with Astaire and Rogers

4 posts in this topic

After all these years of watching Swing Time on TCM I'm wondering if there is a better quality version out there? I wonder if this one needs to be restored. You can def tell when watching in HD or UHD that it's a poor copy. It's sad because this was one of their best. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks

There's nothing wrong with my DVD of Swing Time.

Standard or Blu-Ray DVD?

Garth--

I am the original Low-tech/notech economy buying artistic person.

I bought the movie because I'm a tap dancer. I had it on VHS and there was nothing wrong with my VHS either.

I wouldn't waste money on Blu-ray, unless it was the only DVD that they were selling.

I've got the regular DVD with a terrific commentary by musical historians and dancers.

Why don't you tell us what you thought was wrong with the print that they showed on TCM. What you saw may very well be the best print that they have from the negative.

Who knows where those RKO negatives were all those years before Ted Turner bought them.

Fred Astaire was an AFI Life Achievement Award recipient, so I'm sure the AFI has something of quality on this movie as well.
