On Senate floor, @senatemajldr McConnell shamelessly blames Dems for Mark Harris' election fraud in North Carolina, because Dems haven't supported voter ID laws.

Derek Cressman @DerekCressman 3h3 hours ago

A brazen lie by Senator McConnell.

The election fraud was done by a political operative hired by the candidate with absentee ballots

where photo ID is irrelevant.

GOP's anti-Muslim display likening Rep. Omar to a terrorist rocks W. Virginia capitol

"We have allowed national level politics to become a cancer on our state," the House speaker said.

.......The display featured a picture of the World Trade Center in New York City as a fireball exploded from the one of the Twin Towers, set above a picture of Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, who's a Muslim.

"'Never forget' - you said. . ." read a caption on the first picture. "I am the proof - you have forgotten," read the caption under the picture of Omar, who is wearing a hijab.

The display was set up as part of "WV GOP Day," which the party advertised on Facebook as a day when "Republicans Take the Rotunda."......

Several Democrats objected to the display, and reportedly got into an argument with the House's sergeant at arms, Anne Lieberman, after she allegedly made an anti-Muslim remark.

Del. Mike Angelucci, D-Marion, charged Lieberman had said "all Muslims are terrorists."

He said that was "hate speech."

"Muslims are not terrorists. Christians have killed people. That doesn’t mean Christians are terrorists.......

David Brooks on Cohen testimony-

conservative,  David Brooks:

"Just another week in Caligula's Rome.

A moral occasion.

What it illustrates is a president and, frankly, Michael Cohen who long ago decided that celebrity and wealth is more important than being a good person. And they have dragged us all down there with us.

And the people they have dragged most effectively are the House Republicans, a lot of them on that committee, who decided that they were completely incurious about whether Donald Trump was a good guy or a bad guy or a really awful guy, that — their own leader, they didn't seem to care about that, but they were going to rip the skin off Michael Cohen.

And so they attacked him. And what struck me is how moral corrosion happens, that you decide you're going to defend or ignore Trump, and then to do that, you have to morally distance yourself from him. And then you have to morally distance yourself from him every day.

And, eventually, you just get numb to everything. And so Jim Jordan and other people on the committee were saying, oh, we all knew this, like, it's all unremarkable.

And so that's — that's how moral corrosion happens......

Curious that God wanted Trump to be president but apparently also wanted him to lose the popular vote by nearly 3 million.

I think what they meant was he wasn't reading the speech that his advisor had written for him. Instead he was talking and acting the way he acts in real life in the Oval Office when he's making "presidential" decisions.

It was good for the American people to see him as he really is. But I think in general they already have a good idea of how he really is.

More than anything else his tweets have shown every aspect of his "character" and are good examples of his behavior.

"What affects [voter] turnout more than anything else is interest and competition

... For example, the more MONEY that's spent in a race, the higher the turnout," McConnell said.

"We've got a lot of federal holidays in America. I personally don't see any point in having any more"

A little new reporting on the Pence-Cheney exchange: the criticism from Cheney shocked and thrilled much of the crowd. The exchange became the talk of the conference, especially among the Trump-skeptical donors and scholars.

Pence’s performance was not well received, with one attendee telling me the reliance on platitudes to defend Trump foreign policy fell flat.

Keep in mind, there’s probably no room in America more friendly to Dick Cheney than this one.

To be clear, GOP wins elections when they’re about ideas not when they’re personality contests like Dems & media want. We’re clearly better off because of @RealDonaldTrump. His record of accomplishment is why he’ll win re-election especially when compared to Dems’ leftward lurch.

The sounds more like a political party in a totalitarian fascist country, than in a Democratic Republic like the United States of America.

RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel sent out this mailer to the GOP hordes.

Instead of laying out a Republican vision for American policy (why bother?), it speaks of Democratic “sabotage” and predicts our “rioting mobs.”

Dangerous rhetoric. Fear-mongering & gaslighting is all they’ve got.

But, you got to give them credit because they really know their xenophobic, homophobic, racist base.

They've got to spread all of these hate-filled lies because they don't have any other group of people left.
