Trump Is Not a Legitimate President

164 posts in this topic

On the eve of the national Martin Luther King Jr Day Holiday, Civil Rights Legend Congressman John Lewis stated that Trump will not be a legitimate president.

Congressman Lewis made that statement to NBC's Meet the Press host Chuck Todd.

Congressman Lewis referred to Donald Trump's election as being "a conspiracy" due to the Russians hacking of the election, as well as the untimely interference from the FBI director.

Donald Trump's claims about Obama not being a legit President because (Trump said) Obama was born in Kenya, included this statement:

"I have people that have been studying [Obama's birth certificate] and they cannot believe what they're finding ... I would like to have him show his birth certificate, and can I be honest with you, I hope he can. Because if he can't, if he can't, if he wasn't born in this country, which is a real possibility ... then he has pulled one of the great cons in the history of politics."

Trump's rantings about Obama were lies; the stuff about Trump and Russia is true, and very scary. But Trump can't handle it. Obama handled Trump's lies with grace; Trump is dealing with the truths about his relationship with Russia with hysteria -- because his secrets are finally being revealed.

John Lewis is correct: Trump is not a legitimate President.

There are accusations, still unproven, of collusion between members of the Trump campaign and the Russians in regards to the Wikileaks leaks on Clinton's email. If this is true, at the very least, members of Trump's campaign consorted with a foreign power to hack an American political party in an effort to get their candidate elected President.

Whether these allegations are true, or Trump himself had knowledge of the activity, has yet to be proven.

"At the federal level, Article II of the United States Constitution states in Section 4 that "The President, Vice President, and all civil Officers of the United States shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors." The House of Representatives has the sole power of impeaching, while the United States Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments. The removal of impeached officials is automatic upon conviction in the Senate....

Most impeachments have concerned alleged crimes committed while in office, though there have been a few cases in which Congress has impeached and convicted officials partly for prior crimes....

this was an important election and one side came up short.

so all these sore losers are such intolerant hypocrites they are prepared to foment a revolution?

that would be more damning of them then anything trump has said or has yet to do.

You tell 'em, Jake! So What? Who Cares? You care so little that you felt compelled to post in large, bold lettering how much you don't care. That's a lot of not caring. That'll show those simpering leftists who's got the largest care deficit! Ole Jake!

I bet Nippy cares so little he'll only post 5 to 12 times about it in the next 24 hours.

Trump made a very public statement ... "Russia if you are listening" ... encouraging them to hack Clinton's emails which no matter how much you may hate Clinton would be an illegal activity by a foreign government.

Had she hid them in her pantsuits, they would have been perfectly safe. BTW they hacked the DNC, and the laptop that the FBI got was due to Anthony Weiner and Huma. They have nobody to blame but themselves.

So if you have left your door unlocked and it just so happens that a gang enter and murder your family and steal everything you have only yourself to blame?   Yes it may be careless but I wouldn't go as far as to say that the gang did nothing criminal.

I read that Bill Clinton has a relationship with a female Russian spy and that is how they got Hillary's emails.

Are you sure you really didn't get him mixed up with Warren Beatty-- maybe it was really Warren Beatty who did that because you don't like him either. Or maybe Warren Beatty actually did that in a movie. LOL

I thought saying Trump isn't a "legitimate" president was somebody's sly way of calling him a bastard.  ;)

Nice to see you taking the high road like the Obama's

"The words that we say moving forward -- all of us, it matters, which is one of the reasons Barack and I are so supportive of this transition, because no matter how we felt going into it, it is important for the health of this nation that we support the commander-in-chief," she told Oprah Winfrey in an interview that aired Monday on CBS. "Wasn't done when my husband took office but we're going high and this is what's best for the country."

"So we are going to be there for the next president and do whatever we have to do to make sure that he is successful because if he succeeds we all succeed," she added.

John Lewis's repudiation of Trump's Presidency may prove to be significant. As a civil rights leader he carries a moral authority that the President-elect lacks. Many working cohorts call him a hero. He is also not known for partisan politics but as a man who tries to work with politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Therefore, for Lewis to make a public statement questioning the legitimacy of Trump's victory may have more of a reverberation with fellow politicians than if those same words had come from a blatantly more partisan politician.

That's a nice scenario. Let's see if we can improve on it.

So you have left your door unlocked and a gang enters and they can see the family is all dead, "a murder suicide" so the gang decides to rob the house.

John Lewis has shown in his life that he has a great deal of Courage.

There are probably very few people in this country who would have the kind of Courage that he had, to do what he did on that bridge in Selma, Alabama in 1965.

Having said that, there are very few people in this country today who have the courage to do what he is doing right now - - standing up to a rich and powerful demagogue.

Sep--

Some words in English have more than one definition, more than one usage.

Certainly the word "bastard" also has a definition, which has nothing to do with whether or not a person's parents were married or not, but instead is used in association with a subjective Judgment of an individual's character.

In terms of the word "legitimate", I think the Congressman is using that word to describe something illegal such as, Trump's presidency is illegitimate because the election process which is putting him in office was illegal. Therefore Trump's presidency would be not be legitimite. I think that's what Congressman Lewis is asserting in his statement.

Let's see, Bill Clinton messed with an intern in the White House while President, then lied about it. And Hillary couldn't even handle an email server while Secretary of State, and lied about it. Yep, its all Trump and the Russians fault.

To be a Patriot in the United States, you have to believe in democracy, equality and fairness for all. There is no place for the glass house of racism in a democracy like the United States.
