Help with name of WWII B&W movie

3 posts in this topic

Help appreciated with the name of a B&W WW II movie I saw as a child, in about 1960.

Film was about some English Tommies, and I remember there was a scene where they were in an English Country House garden, and were surprised to come across some Roman/Greek Gods of mythology, such as Zeus and Apollo etc. Or (the other way round) the Gods were making sure the soldiers didn't see them.

Must have been filmed in about 1939-1950.

Pretty low budget from what I remember.

Any clues much appreciated, especially given such a minimal description !

The only thing similar that I can think of with Britons in togas might be "Carry On Cleo," which I've never seen, and anyway that spoofs Caesar and Cleopatra rather than the Greek gods. And then from 1970 there's Arnold's debut "Hercules Goes Bananas" ("Hercules in New York"). Or maybe an episode of the Steve Allen comedic history series "Meeting of Minds" although your synopsis doesn't match that.
