Happy centennial birthday to Stephen Elliott, born November 27th, in 1918!

My favorite Stephen Elliott role: Chief Hubbard in "Beverly Hills Cop" (1984).

Freeman was a great actress (and a noted acting teacher). But to me, she'll always be "The Penguin" from "The Blues Brothers" (1980).

Jack Wilson, his character in "Shane," was one of the great movie villains of all time. That made Palance the perfect spokesperson for Time-Life Books' 1980s TV commercials for its series on The Old West. I can still remember his line about the 19th-century outlaw and gunslinger John Wesley Hardin, "who shot a man for snoring."

For some reason, I'm always going to remember Tierney for his roles as gruff, older characters -- including the mob boss in Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs" (1992).

Me too! Most of the photos of him had him looking like the one in your post. I chose the one I did because he looks so handsome in it with his rarely seen smile. ;)

How appropriate that Cole was born two months after Jackie Robinson because he certainly was an African-American entertainment pioneer.
