WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION (2016)- Toby Jones

2 posts in this topic

A fantastic take on the Agatha Christie story, starring Toby Jones as the Lawyer. (a Solicitor, not a Barrister)

As with just about everything he does, he steals it.

Some WONDERFUL production values, locations, and plenty of atmosphere, set in 1923 when the story was written.

Nothing will come close to the Billy Wilder version, of course. Or, to the STAR power of it---it is a terrific rush, no matter how many times you have seen it.

But this version has it's own (smaller) moments.

On the DVD, some fun "extras" show us the production details.

Also one of the STARS of this one is the PERSIAN CAT who plays the role "Missy", the victim's pet.

She /He/ It REALLY deserves a credit line, or at least a mention in the "extras".

The cat has a greater on-screen "verve" than most of the stars.

But this film belongs to Toby Jones.

If you are a fan of his, don't miss it.

Love Toby Jones. With apologies to the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Jones was the one who nailed Truman Capote. And then he can skew so nasty and villainous. (I just saw him on Netflix in another Christie as the ugly American in Murder on the Orient Express.) Thanks for the heads-up on this one. Nobody does period stuff as well as the Brits.
