Per @joshtpm the record suggests POTUS waited until Priebus had stepped off plane -- but before he got in SUV -- before tweeting Kelly news.

Reince got off easy. Thomas Cromwell and Robespierre were executed on this date in 1540 and 1794, respectively. America is a gentler place.

Maude was the stereotypical Bleeding Heart Liberal, the polar opposite of Archie Bunker.

I was confused!!!    My comments were based on her Golden Girl character Dorothy (and her cheating husband Stanley, as played by  the fine comic actor Herb Edelman).

Yes,  Maude was the polar opposite of Bunker.

We can all move along now.

"56 retired generals and admirals have just released a blistering statement against the sitting president:

“The Commander in Chief has tweeted a total ban of honorably serving transgender troops.

This proposed ban, if implemented, would cause significant disruptions, deprive the military of mission-critical talent, and compromise the integrity of transgender troops who would be forced to live a lie, as well as non-transgender peers who would be forced to choose between reporting their comrades or disobeying policy.

As a result, the proposed ban would degrade readiness even more than the failed ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy. Patriotic transgender Americans who are serving— and who want to serve—must not be dismissed, deprived of medically necessary health care, or forced to compromise their integrity or hide their identity.

“President Trump seeks to ban transgender service members because of the financial cost and disruption associated with transgender military service. We respectfully disagree, and consider these claims to be without merit......

‘The service of men and women who volunteer and who meet our standards of service is a blessing, not a burden.’......

Heather Heyer is her name. She was 32 years old. She was murdered on Saturday, August 12th in Charlottesville, VA. May she rest in peace.

This beautiful young woman's death is the product of hate spewed in our country. She was Somebody's Daughter; she was somebody's friend whose life was snuffed out by hate.

When you think about all that is going on in this country for the last year, please think about this young woman and think about if you're willing to see many more of these young people snuffed out by hate.

When you tolerate hateful, racist, sexist, homophobic, et al talk, actions, jokes etc you are setting up a climate where these kind of Acts will become everyday occurrences.

Trump's presidency is extraordinary because he has no respect for the Dignity of the office or the Dignity of the American people.

If you continue to tolerate that, then you're prepared to accept the consequences.

SO WHY ISN'T HATE SPEECH ILLEGAL?

Debating the “Mighty Constitutional Opposites”

Debating Hate Speech

Hate speech is speech that offends, threatens, or insults groups, based on race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or other traits. Should hate speech be discouraged? The answer is easy—of course! However, developing such policies runs the risk of limiting an individual’s ability to exercise free speech. When a conflict arises about which is more important—protecting community interests or safeguarding the rights of the individual—a balance must be found that protects the civil rights of all without limiting the civil liberties of the speaker.

In this country there is no right to speak fighting words—those words without social value, directed to a specific individual, that would provoke a reasonable member of the group about whom the words are spoken. For example, a person cannot utter a racial or ethnic epithet to another if those words are likely to cause the listener to react violently. However, under the First Amendment, individuals do have a right to speech that the listener disagrees with and to speech that is offensive and hateful.

Think about it. It’s always easier to defend someone’s right to say something with which you agree. But in a free society, you also have a duty to defend speech to which you may strongly object.

Acts Speak Louder than Words
One way to deal effectively with hate speech is to create laws and policies that discourage bad behavior but do not punish bad beliefs. Another way of saying this is to create laws and policies that do not attempt to define hate speech as hate crimes, or “acts.” In two recent hate crime cases, the U.S. Supreme Court concluded that acts, but not speech, may be regulated by law......

...Can a middle ground be found—a way to accommodate both the communitarian and libertarian perspectives? Perhaps so. Government has the obligation to protect speech by disallowing laws that are too restrictive, yet it can also encourage individuals to respect each other.....

"Hate Speech Law Enforcement-

Hate law regulations can be divided into two types: those which are designed for public order and those which are designed to protect human dignity.

Those designed to protect public order require a higher threshold to be violated, so they are not specifically enforced frequently. For example, in Northern Ireland, as of 1992 only one person was prosecuted for violating the regulation in twenty one years.

Those meant to protect human dignity have a much lower threshold to be violated, so those in Canada, Denmark, France, Germany and the Netherlands seem to be frequently enforced.[18]

Enforcement of laws regarding hate speech in the USA can interfere with constitutional rights to freedom of speech. Court rulings often must be reexamined to ensure the U.S. Constitution is being upheld in the ruling on whether or not the words count as a violation.[19]

Hate speech laws in Canada

In Canada, advocating genocide against any "identifiable group" is an indictable offence under the Criminal Code and carries a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment. There is no minimum sentence.[21]

Publicly inciting hatred against any identifiable group is also an offence. It can be prosecuted either as an indictable offence with a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment, or as a summary conviction offence with a maximum sentence of six months imprisonment. There are no minimum sentences in either case.[22] The offence of publicly inciting hatred makes exceptions for cases of statements of truth, and subjects of public debate and religious doctrine. The landmark judicial decision on the constitutionality of this law was R. v. Keegstra (1990).

An "identifiable group" is defined for both offences as "any section of the public distinguished by colour, race, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, or mental or physical disability".

Gotta disagree here. Dylann Roof, who murdered all those people in that black church in Cold Blood--he was well taken care of in terms of Justice.

And I have every confidence that this murder crime by another alleged white supremist will be taken care of properly with American Justice.

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe gave the speech of Hope and Reconciliation and Denunciation of violent white supremacy that the President of the United States should have given-- but was incapable of giving because he's morally bankrupt.

Everyone needs to listen to the governor's speech in that he assesses the situation and has talked about what we need to do in the future.

He also is openly aware of the Confederate and Jim Crow past of his State and that also has to be apprised and noted in any altercation of this nature in a former slave state.

Others who have spoken out very well, assessing the situation, have been Senator Lindsey Graham, Senator Marco Rubio, and Senator Ted Cruz.

I didn't mention what political party any of these people were in because it really doesn't matter. This is not a political party issue-- this is an American issue.

Americans have to learn how to face their past before they can go on to their future.

How One Major Internet Company Helps Serve Up Hate on the Web-

Cloudflare, a prominent San Francisco outfit, provides services to neo-Nazi sites like The Daily Stormer, including giving them personal information on people who complain about their content.

"...The internet provides extremists with an unprecedented ability to spread hate and recruit followers,” he said. “Individual racists and organized hate groups now have the power to reach a global audience of millions and to communicate among like-minded individuals easily, inexpensively, and anonymously....

Andrew Anglin, the owner of The Daily Stormer, has been candid about how he feels about people reporting his site for its content.

“We need to make it clear to all of these people that there are consequences for messing with us,” Anglin wrote in one online post. “We are not a bunch of babies to be kicked around. We will take revenge. And we will do it now.”....

“Although hate speech is offensive and hurtful, the First Amendment usually protects such expression,” Johnson said. “However, there is a growing trend to use the Internet to intimidate and harass individuals on the basis of their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, or national origin.”

A look at Cloudflare’s policies and operations sheds some light on how sites promoting incendiary speech and even violent behavior can exist and even thrive.....

To me it all depends on the form of 'revenge'.    Note that gay rights activist groups sued in CA to ensure the names of donors for Prop 8 (the ban SSM bill),  were made public so they could take 'revenge' on these individuals,  but 'revenge' was in the form of boycotts of their businesses.

BS, Nipster!

A criminal defense attorney, and BE they YOUR freakin' stereotype of some "egg-sucking liberal" OR your freakin' stereotype of some "hard*** conservative", is DUTY BOUND to represent THEIR client as vigorously as possible!!!

AND, if they DON'T, they shouldn't be in the business that they're in...PERIOD!!!

(...AND, do you HONESTLY think that that freakin' car-driving white supremacist AND most likely rabid Trump supporter is GOING to hire some "egg sucking liberal" to represent HIM?...hell, I'll lay you five-to-one odds that some right wing advocacy group WILL hire some "hard*** conservative" attorney to represent that moron in court...WANNA BET?!)

Well I had heard an interview with a lady who expressed my views exactly:

(paraphrasing)

Trump's entire election campaign was a thinly veiled white supremacist platform.

"Make America great again" meant "Make America White Again" to those who secretly blame every non-white American for their economic downturn.

I could see that and obviously his supporters agreed with that. This, along with his incredible inexperience and 5th grade mentality made me fearful for our country with Trump in the White House.

And now it's all imploding because (hopefully) the majority of Americans see this clown for what he is, a baffoon.

It's very disheartening to know this day & age there still are those who equate any non whites or immigrants as a threat to anyone's economic success or well being. I wish Americans would Grow Up.

Trump nominee Sam Clovis: The sanctioning of same-sex marriage could lead to the legalization of pedophilia http://cnn.it/2uYYtCz

DHxMl3TWsAAxXue.jpg

Teddy Roosevelt had the Square Deal.

Franklin Roosevelt had the New Deal.

Harry Truman had the Fair Deal.

Now today Donald Trump has THE HATE DEAL.

* Transgender Americans aren't good enough to serve in the military.

** Violent RACIST groups like The neo-Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist organizations are good people.

And now this Sam Clovis, Trump's choice for chief scientist at the

US Department of Agriculture, says same-sex marriage can lead to pedophilia - - and implies that gay people have a choice for their sexual orientation and that they are more inclined to sex crimes than non -gay people.

*** Clovis along with Trump are both proponents and strong supporters of the birther theory-- A racist hate conspiracy against President Obama, which claimed that he was not a Natural Born American citizen.

Where will this hate end?-- well last Saturday a week ago it ended in the deaths of three innocent American citizens.

No one is safe with people enabling white domestic terrorism and targeting hatred against groups of innocent Americans--

Especially when it's coming from high up in the American government.

the left would never argue that opposition to the notion that people who wanted to engage in sex with innocent children was a prejudice, now would they???

and yet the same was once true of homosexuality. the conservative rationale is simply this...

one thing can lead to another. conservatives have tried to do something that usually comes hard to most human beings...to see farther than the end of their noses...

and the other side is trying equally as hard not to.

culpable blindness can lead to terribly misguided thinking and future irreparable harm.

today many things are deemed or dubbed to be prejudices. perhaps tomorrow it will be the desire to engage in sex with children.

can it be assured beyond all possibility that it cannot ever occur???

Look, as far as I know, Trump is the only person who has admitted to engaging in sexual battery, according to his admitted Behavior on that Access Hollywood tape.

Grab 'em by the *****.

And as far as I know Trump is not gay.
