Awesome war film by a director that was actually there. Fuller spent a long time filming battles and other stuff during WWII. That was his job! Documenting our boys in action, etc... A skilled master filmmaker. Check ot his "Steel Helmet"(KOREAN WAR),and "Shock Corridor"(the effects of war on a person... Filmmakers from Scorsese to Tarantino to Jarmush LOVE Sam Fuller movies!!!! Watch...

u need to see the fuller documentary called "The Typewriter, the Rifle and the Movie camera"

Sam Fuller is one of my heroes since I am a journalist, a soldier and a filmmaker.

I recently bought his first 3 films here on the TCM web site called -"The First Films of Samuel Fuller"

I can now sell my VHS copy of the steel helmet because the Steel Helmet is in this collection.

I'm glad they were able to restore the film so it came a bit closer to Fuller's original vision. This movie is gripping all the way, starting with the WW1 flashback and all the way to the armistice of WW2.
