Carmakers Rush to Put Saudi Women Behind Wheels of Their Models

Car companies haven’t wasted any time courting the 9 million potential customers unlocked when Saudi Arabia lifted its ban on women drivers.

The decision has lit up social media, with both cheers and jeers for the ruling, which takes effect in June. Also joining the chorus are automakers looking to capitalize on the move, racing each other to get their first words out to woo prospective female drivers in the Middle East’s biggest economy.

In a Twitter post titled “Welcome to the driver’s seat,” Ford Motor Co. attached an image of a pair of woman’s eyes appearing in a rear-view mirror against a black background. In another tweet under the hashtag #SaudiWomenCanDrive, it offered a "dream car" to a women’s rights campaigner by putting up a picture of a bright yellow Mustang racing in a tunnel.

Tata Motors Ltd.’s Land Rover and Jaguar brands posted an image of a handbag spilling out a car key, lipstick and a bottle of perfume among other items, with titles that say "Adventure awaits you” and "The road is yours.”

**************************************************

You mean that Saudi women have been living like Hillary Clinton and haven't driven cars for all these years? What a pampered lifestyle they have been living.

Canada MPs to loosen penalties for drunks in kayaks

In Canada, you may soon be able to paddle a canoe while cracking open a cold one.

Kayaking while drunk is currently subject to tough punishments which means offenders can lose their driving licences or get driving bans.

Now, parliamentarians are weighing legislation that would exclude any vessel "propelled exclusively by means of muscular power".

Under the current criminal code, operating a vessel while impaired by drugs or alcohol is illegal, but the law does not define the term "vessel".

The proposed changes add a definition to include hovercrafts but not vessels "propelled exclusively by means of muscular power" - human-powered boats like canoes, kayaks, paddleboats and rowing boats.

***********************************************

Things are so slow up in Canada they have to lower the drinking penalties for kayaking.

Man, MM, you will scrounge the news almost anywhere to try to find something giving you an excuse to throw a knock at Canada (even as pathetic a crack as this). No room for any more hangups in your household because of all the ones you've got (Obama's golfing, Hillary's non driving, anything Canadian).

Senate Committee Approves Bill To Cut Obama’s Post-Presidential Stipend

“Our national debt now exceeds $20 trillion; this bipartisan effort is another important step toward reigning in Washington’s out-of-control spending,” Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst, sponsor of the Senate legislation, said in a statement.

“It is ridiculous to continue asking taxpayers to help foot the bill for former presidents’ perks at a time when they already rake in millions of dollars from book deals, speaking engagements, and more.”

For every dollar a former president makes above $400,000 from speaking engagements or other post-presidential work, the annuity would be reduced by $1 in the Senate proposal. Obama made around $400,000 in one speech to a Wall Street private equity firm earlier this year, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

A similar proposal passed the House and Senate in the last congressional session, but Obama vetoed similar legislation in 2016.

***********************************************

There is no reason to be giving Obama taxpayer money so he can buy an NBA team with it. if he wants to become that rich he can work for it like everyone else.

MM--There's no reason for Trump to give the richest 1% of American taxpayers any tax cuts, but that's not stopping him or Republicans from trying.

What about because they're the job creators, you commie?

Trudeau: Ottawa reviewing refugee process following Edmonton attacks

OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the government is reviewing its handling of refugee claims following revelations that a Somali man accused in attacks in Edmonton had been ordered deported from the United States.

Trudeau says the government is trying to find out what happened with the case of Abdulahi Hasan Sharif.

The Canadian government has said that Sharif presented himself at a regular port of entry in 2012 and was cleared as a refugee in Canada.

"It's certain that we have asylum processes that need to be followed rule by rule when someone presents themselves at our border. We have rules to follow and we make sure those rules are followed," he said in Ottawa on Wednesday.

************************************************************

When the shoe is on the other foot it is funny how they change their tune. Trudeau complained about the Trump travel ban and now he wants to limit immigration to Canada.

Yes, well, the Canadian Constitution guarantees to its citizens "peace, order, and good government".

Imagine what could have been possible for Americans if they'd adopted such a mature guarantee rather than the ridiculously indefinite and arguable claptrap of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".

Why would you think we'd forget?

Everything that's official in Canada is printed in both English and French.

Canadian Holocaust Memorial Neglects to Mention Jews

The architecture of Canada’s new National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa is both symbolic and haunting, with six concrete triangles depicting the stars that Jews were forced to wear in Nazi Germany, and that marked millions of them for extermination during World War II.

But while the structure’s design embodies Jewish suffering during the Holocaust, a plaque placed outside it failed to mention Jews or anti-Semitism, an omission that has drawn furious criticism.

The plaque outside the memorial — the country’s first national Holocaust monument, 10 years in the making and inaugurated by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last week — paid tribute to the “millions of men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust” and the “survivors who persevered and were able to make their way to Canada after one of the darkest chapters in history.”

*****************************************

So Trudeau inaugurated this memorial and didn't notice this detail missing? It sounds like one of those conspiracy nuts making up history.

Now that is some solid pap.     Really,   I assume Canadians believe other Canadians are bright enough to know that Jews were the victims of the Holocaust.

Canada will pay compensation to thousands of indigenous 'stolen children'

Canada will pay up to $598 million dollars in compensation to thousands of aboriginals who were forcibly removed as children from their families decades ago, promising to end “a terrible legacy”.

In the so-called “Sixties Scoop”, welfare authorities took about 20,000 aboriginal children from their homes between the 1960s and 1980s and placed them in foster care or allowed them to be adopted by non-indigenous families.

The compensation package is designed to settle many of the lawsuits launched by survivors, who say the forced removal deprived them of their heritage and led to mental disorders, substance abuse and suicide.

Canada’s 1.4 million aboriginals, who make up about 4% of the population, experience higher levels of poverty and incarceration and have a lower life expectancy than other Canadians. They are often victims of violent crime and addiction.

**************************************************************

This happened all the way into the 1980's in Canada? What was that country thinking.

Did Obama administration approve bump stocks?

In a rare move, the National Rifle Association issued a statement calling for regulation of the device that turned the Las Vegas shooter’s rifles more deadly, blaming Barack Obama’s administration for its approval.

"Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law," the NRA wrote in a statement. "The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semiautomatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations."

Adam Winkler, a law professor at University of California, Los Angeles, who specializes in guns, said it was appropriate to characterize the move as an approval of its sale under the Obama administration.

We indeed found two occasions in which ATF, a bureau within the executive branch, decided it could not regulate bump stocks during the Obama administration.

*********************************************

I can't believe Obama allowed the sale of these bump stocks when he was pretending to care so much about gun control.

Columbus Day? In More Than 50 Cities, It's Indigenous Peoples Day.

Columbus Day is being recognized today across the United States. But in more than 50 U.S. cities, along with a few universities, counties and states, it's not. Instead, those places are celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day.

Rather than commemorating the explorer Christopher Columbus, who has come to be seen as a controversial figure in recent years, the new holiday focuses on the lives of the people he and other European explorers encountered in the New World.

They also say Columbus didn’t "discover" the New World because there were already people living on the islands where he landed.

“Our city owes our very founding to the indigenous peoples in Denver,” Denver City Councilman Paul Lopez told the Denver Post, shortly after the city adopted the new holiday in 2016. “We do this because our history books erase such history. You honor it by making it no longer invisible.”

****************************************************

This is what happens when you let political correctness take over, they want to erase history.

No Obama documents in Obama library? Historians puzzled by Chicago center plans

The Obama Foundation is taking an unconventional approach to the presidential center and library being planned in Chicago. It's opting to host a digital archive of President Barack Obama's records, but not keep his hard-copy manuscripts and letters and other documents onsite.

That means no thumbing through the ex-president's correspondence on the health care fight or first drafts of his State of the Union addresses.

The decision has historians scratching their heads.

“All archivists are waiting to see how this will work, because we are all struggling with how to make things available digitally,” Peggy Glowacki, a manuscripts librarian at the Richard J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago, told the Chicago Tribune.

**********************************************

You're just suppose to trust him and believe everything in the "library", just like what happened when he was President. How dare anyone ask for proof.

Hillary Clinton in talks with Columbia University to take on professor role

Hillary Clinton is testing the waters on a return to academia.

The former U.S. Secretary of State and presidential nominee is in talks with Columbia University to take on a formal role at the Ivy League — and potentially house her archives there, multiple sources told the Daily News.

One option under discussion is an esteemed “University Professor” role that would allow Clinton to lecture across a range of schools and departments without the requirement of a strict course load, one source said.

“She's trying to figure out what she wants to do. It could end up with the papers at one place and she has some sort of faculty role at another. She hasn't quite come to a decision,” the source said.

***********************************************

And some people claim that there is no brainwashing going on at the universities.

FBI uncovered Russian bribery plot before Obama administration approved controversial nuclear deal with Moscow

Before the Obama administration approved a controversial deal in 2010 giving Moscow control of a large swath of American uranium, the FBI had gathered substantial evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering designed to grow Vladimir Putin’s atomic energy business inside the United States, according to government documents and interviews.

Federal agents used a confidential U.S. witness working inside the Russian nuclear industry to gather extensive financial records, make secret recordings and intercept emails as early as 2009 that showed Moscow had compromised an American uranium trucking firm with bribes and kickbacks in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FBI and court documents show.

They also obtained an eyewitness account — backed by documents — indicating Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told The Hill.

********************************************

It looks more and more like the Russian conspiracy happened during the Obama administration to get uranium but the media isn't covering it.
