On This Day. 1964: Lyndon Johnson signed what is arguably the most important piece of legislation of the 20th century—the Civil Rights Act. It outlawed racial and sexual discrimination, unequal voting requirements, discrimination in the workplace and public facilities

The Civil Rights Act was the Federal government's response to the culture of white supremacy in the United States of America --institutionalized racism and Jim Crow in the southern states.

My local paper has been giving a lot of coverage to this story (since this moron is local);   my gut tells me he will resign in the next few weeks.

There's always at least one person like this in every community. And they get a lot of coverage.

I assume there is more than at least one,  but most are smart enough to not make such posts on social media, especially in blue CA.

This news story is misleading;  He wasn't disciplined,  instead he was put on paid-leave while this superiors conduct an investigation.    NOW,  I believe he will end up being terminated,  but since CA overly favors employees rights over employer rights,   there might not be legal ground to fire him.

Anyway,  I fail to see how getting a paid vacation is being disciplined.

****. The House of Representatives has introduced a bill called the “Unmasking Antifa Act of 2018,” which carries a potential 15-year prison sentence for anyone caught engaging in behavior typically associated with anti-fascist activists.

As the US House seeks to criminalize anti-fascist activism, it's worth noting that anti-fascist activists in Russia are currently being tortured and detained by the FSB under "anti-terrorism" laws. Authoritarians are terrified of popular uprisings.

Two groups go to Charlottesville. A big group chants racist filth, wields semi-automatic assault rifles, fires a gun into a crowd & murders a woman with a car. A small group wears masks. It’s the small group these Congressmen want to lock up for 15 years. Authoritarianism rises.

It should be named the “Guns don’t kill people, kerchiefs do” Act.

But no mention of the Ku Klux Klan, the neo-nazis or the neo-confederates who were involved.....

Citing “new information,” the U.S. Justice Department is re-opening the investigation into the death of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old black boy killed and mutilated in 1955 after being accused of whistling at a white woman. http://apne.ws/Z3YEdMg

Emmett Till, a 14-year-old black boy, was murdered August 28, 1955 after Carolyn Donham, a white woman, accused him of insulting her in a Mississippi store. Donham recanted her story but was never tried. An all-white jury acquitted the killers, J.W. Milam and Roy Bryant in 1955.

The 63 year -old case of this brutal  Mississippi lynching has been reopened by the Justice Department.

When will this 14 year -old teenager have justice?

Murder and violence

As we have discussed,   I have yet to see any statistical data that includes such incidences are increasing since Trump became President.    Clearly MSM news reporting of racial discord (as well as harassment  of women) has increased.

I really wish there was some data.    Instead what I'm seeing is people using single incidences to imply a much larger problem that may or may NOT exist.    We see this on the right anytime an illegal immigrant commits a major crime.

How?  James Alex Fields, the Ohio man who drove his Dodge Challenger into a crowd at the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville this summer, has been indicted on 10 counts, including first-degree murder.

A year ago Heather Heyer protested white nationalist, Ku Klux Klan, neo-confederate, and neo-Nazi  men coming to Charlottesville Virginia to spew their racist hate and violence.

As a resident of that City, she attended a freedom rally as a counter protest to show she stood up for American constitutional principles against fascism, hatred and bigotry.

As a result of her patriotic stance, Heather was fatally run down by a car.

The local police have arrested a young white nationalist man who was in Charlottesville participating in the unite the right rally.

The only thing that hate needs to survive , the only way that racism grows is for people to Be Afraid, to be lazy,

or to think it's all a joke because today it doesn't affect them personally.

The Democratic Principles of the United States of America are only as good as the people who stand up for them.

If Heather had stayed home that day she would probably still be alive a year later. But instead she decided that she knew right from wrong and she had to take that stance in public.

When a nation like the United States has such a glaring Achilles Heel like racism, it is only natural than an enemy would try to take advantage of that.
