 Nippy--

In your Gun Arsenal do you have any AK-47s. Those are awfully popular guns in this country.

I've never owned a firearm in my life...I did have a nifty revolutionary war hand musket replica once with a metal barrel and wooden stock. no, guns are not for me.

Only phasers, and only set to stun.

Ham,

What kind of guns do you have at home? Are you a gun collector?

Just a couple against home invasion / protection.  We have the "Castle Doctrine", thank you Joe Manchin.

Every person’s home is a castle, and every person’s family member is a royal family member,

As long as the people know that we treat our family members like kings and queens, and we treat our homes like castles, don’t mess with us.....Joe Manchin

In Kansas guys put their rifles in the back window of their trucks.

My dad was a Battle of the Bulge veteran, so he always had  loaded guns (shotgun) in the house. And he always carried a Gun too. My mother had a derringer and she knew how to use it because the local police had taught women Marksmanship during World War II. Believe it or not I think they were preparing for some kind of a Japanese invasion in the middle of the Midwest.

Most people in Kansas have multiple guns it's quite common-- conceal & carry.

I don't know who your Joe manchin is, but everybody feels that way about their own home.

I just don't think people need assault rifles or Uzis or AK-47's for their personal protection.

I wonder what old master Tom would do if a group of his slaves came up and decided to

refresh the tree of liberty with a little of his tyrant's blood.

I can remember when my brother got a BB gun for Christmas. Every boy in the neighborhood had one.

And every boy carried those combo pocket knives to school.

My, how times have changed.

It is time to contact your US senators and urge them to require that Mitch McConnell let the Senate debate and vote on the House passed gun restriction bill.  Up or down, the Senate should be permitted to vote on it.

Hannity Proposes Massive Armed Force To 'Surround' All Schools And Stores

Fox News host Sean Hannity is calling for a virtual police state of armed ex-cops and military to “surround” schools and shopping malls to prevent mass shootings.

“Every school,” Hannity said. “Secure the perimeter of those schools. Equip them with retired police and military, they should be on every floor of every school.”

Retired police and military could volunteer for 15 hours a week in exchange for paying no federal or state income taxes, he suggested.

“We can do that with stores. We can do that in malls. We can do that pretty much anywhere the public is,” Hannity said. “Courthouses, we can expand that out everywhere and keep Americans safe.”

Hannity, who has campaigned for President Donald Trump and reportedly advises him in private, has made the proposal in the past as well.

There are close to 100,000 public and 35,000 private K-12 schools in the United States so a force large enough to “surround the perimeter” and be on each floor would require several hundred thousand people, if not more. Statista reported that there were 116,000 shopping malls in the U.S. as of 2017, adding several hundred thousand more to the Hannity Force.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, there are currently 701,000 full-time sworn law enforcement officers in the country; the Hannity Force would essentially come close to matching or even exceeding those numbers, especially if his plan was expanded “everywhere” to include other non-mall stores and shopping centers, courthouses, etc.

The reports indicate that the Dayton Police were already at the site of the shooting.  They were stationed there.  That's why the shooter went down in 30 seconds.  Some old guy who was in service or law enforcement several years ago is going to do better?   Not to mention all the other problems with poorly trained retirees distinguishing between the assailant and the potential victims.

The problem is the mental state of the person who had the gun and the fact that it was a semi-automatic with a 100 round magazine.  And he also had more than one gun.

Incidentally, military retirees pay little to no state income taxes in many states already.

This has got to be the dumbest idea yet.  Or maybe just issue guns to everybody as they enter the shopping center, malls, schools, entertainment venues, etc.

NBC Lobbies for Assault Weapons Ban:

‘You Don’t Need an AR-Whatever’

"On Tuesday, NBC’s Today show pushed for a new assault weapons ban in the wake of the mass shootings in Texas and Ohio over the weekend. The broadcast touted public officials and celebrities urging for gun restrictions, with one of the hosts even insisting, “you don’t need an AR-whatever.”

During an interview with NYPD deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism John Miller...

longed for the return of a federal assault weapons ban:

We are touted by ourselves to be the most, you know, advanced, civilized society on the planet Earth. Last week, we had four incidents across this country where people with rifles walked in, assault weapons, and killed lots of people for different reasons....We had an assault weapons ban. We passed it in 1994. I was on the White House lawn that day. And Congress let it expire on purpose, not by accident. I think we need to get serious about this discussion....where we’re not thinking of who’s going to walk in with extended magazines with over 30 rounds and a rifle meant for combat that are going into the wrong hands, without having a serious discussion. Again, we’re not moving forward. We just need to take a step back to where we were and have a law that makes sense.

“Celebrities are now getting involved” and specifically cited country music singer Kacey Musgraves calling for a ban on “mass killing machines”:

Kacey Musgraves, she gave an impassioned plea to lawmakers, she says to do something about the gun violence in America. She was – had a set at Lollapalooza on Sunday. In fact, let’s look at her Twitter comments, she says,

“Let me be clear –  I’m from Texas. I grew up around hunting and guns. There’s a time and place for that and even self-protection in ways, but this is different. The system is majorly flawed, and NOBODY NEEDS ANYTHING REMOTELY AUTOMATIC. PERIOD.” She says, “they're mass killing machines.”..........

Dayton shooter had an obsession with violence and mass shootings, police say

.......Former high school classmates said that he had a "hit list" of people he wanted to kill or rape. He was in a "pornogrind" band with extremely graphic, violent lyrics. And authorities searching his family home found writings that expressed an interest in killing people, two law enforcement sources told CNN.

But the writings did not indicate any racial or political motive, sources said.......

The most recent tweet on the @iamthespookster account was on August 3, the day of the shooting, when he retweeted a post saying, "Millenials have a message for the Joe Biden generation: hurry up and die."......

The account retweeted messages supporting Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, as well as posts against ICE agents, including one that said, "these people are monsters," and multiple posts condemning police, and supporting Antifa protesters,.......

The user's Twitter bio reads: "he/him / anime fan / metalhead / leftist / I'm going to hell and I'm not coming back." One tweet used the hashtag #HailSatan......

He said the list was separated into two columns: a "kill list" for boys and a "rape list" for girls. ......

Betts was in a band called the Menstrual Munchies,

who perform in a genre Walton called "pornogrind," in Missouri.
Pornogrind is an offshoot of goregrind and grindcore music; the lyrics discuss -- oftentimes in extremely graphic and violent ways -- pornographic and sexual themes,.........

That's great.

But I don't think the 14 year-old could have handled an AK-47 anyway.

So you don't really need assault weapons for personal protection.

Banning assault weapons isn't taking anybody's guns away.

Banning assault weapons is stopping mass shootings. I personally would like to know why a person needs an assault weapon outside of a war zone anyway.

And I'm sure the police would like to be aware of people who have assault weapons in their communities.
