Liz Smith has died at 94

I remember in my 20s I would get a copy of the L.A. Times each morning and her column was the first thing I read. She never denigrated the subjects she wrote about and she was remarkably accurate.

Indeed, a great lady and columnist. I used to enjoy reading her column in the Detroit Free Press when they carried it.

Rest in peace, Liz.

I think my favourite Liz Smith column appeared in 1992. Julia Duffy had just been let go from Designing Women and Liz's phrasing was perfect-- she compared it to riding a bike-- she said Julia had pedaled hard but now it was time to get off.
