they have completely surrendered their person of the year cover to political correctness...they were supposed to choose a person of the year, man or a woman. what is this?

it is so dumb liberal touchy-feely. can time explain just who...specifically...is their person of the year?

This isn't the first time that a specific person hasn't been chosen. It has happened on 15 other occasions.

So no, they haven't "lost their cookies", it's just that you're ignorant on the subject.

For the record (and the lazy), here are the previous non-specific Persons of the Year:

  • 1950: The American fighting-man
  • 1956: The Hungarian freedom fighter
  • 1960: U.S. scientists
  • 1966: The Inheritor (Americans 25 and under)
  • 1968: The Apollo 8 astronauts
  • 1969: The Middle Americans
  • 1975: American women
  • 1982: The Computer
  • 1988: The Endangered Earth
  • 1993: The Peacemakers
  • 2002: The Whistleblowers
  • 2003: The American soldier
  • 2005: The Good Samaritans
  • 2006: You
  • 2011: The Protester
  • 2014: Ebola fighters

I miscounted earlier. There have been 16 previous non-individual choices.

I Googled that, was 1983 Machine of The Year.

Brilliant how they did that, showed a smaller computer that's more symbolic of today's.

It was for 1982, as I previously listed. The issue comes out sometimes at the beginning of the following year. As you can see in the picture you posted, the cover date is January 3.

The choice for 1983 was a duo: Ronald Reagan and Yuri Andropov. There was a lot of nuclear saber-rattling that year between the two.

THE SILENCE BREAKERS...

"...........Norms evolve, and it's long past time for any culture to view harassment as acceptable. But there's a great deal at stake in how we assess these new boundaries—for women and men together. We can and should police criminal acts and discourage inappropriate, destructive behavior.

At least we've started asking the right questions....

A misogynist is not the "Time Person of the Year", like last year, so this has got to be an improvement--

a growingchink in the armor of male privilege.

You don't understand how Time selects 'Person of the Year' anymore than the conservatives around here.
