Who would you marry?

28 posts in this topic

Like if you could go back in time to marry your favorite Classic Movie Actor/Actress, who would it be AND WHY??

I'd have to say Shirley Maclaine because she's beautiful and she's quiet and elegant, aka just perfect. She's like 80 now but if she hmu i'd still pull up to Hollywood quick asf.

Her Most Iconic Movie: The Apartment

Well this is a no-brainer.  Sure he probably wasn't marriage material, but who cares?!

Errol Flynn.  Why? Because he's gorgeous!

His most iconic movie: The Adventures of Robin Hood

But my personal favorites are Gentlemen Jim, Never Say Goodbye, Uncertain Glory, and The Sisters.

Most Wanted Errol Flynn Film: the aptly named The Perfect Specimen

Jim Hutton....my big crush. :) He was so incredibly sexy as Ellery Queen. (Does anyone here remember that show?)

If I were a lesbian, I would have a huge crush on Gene Tierney. She was a stunning woman. I suspect that a lot of guys and lesbians were drooling over her back in the day. It's too bad about what happened to her.

Does it HAVE TO be a "classic" movies actress?

And does that mean I have to give a pass to JOEY HEATHERTON and TUESDAY WELD( both who are actually a few years younger than my actual wife.)?

Well then, it'd be a toss-up between the aforementioned GENE TIERNEY and RITA HAYWORTH.  And maybe MYRNA LOY if those two turn me down.

But if she played coy with me I'd make her jealous by dating . . .

WHAT?!? This is supposed to be a fantasy thread, isn't it?

James Cagney.....especially as Eddie Bartlett....I think I could keep him on the straight and narrow.

Cody Jarrett on the other hand....

I would also love to wed Biff Grimes of The Strawberry Blonde or Danny from City for Conquest....would never give Cagney the brush off like Ann Sheridan did him in that one.

Probably not the most common choice but I always thought Patsy Kelly was very pretty.

And Patsy could do everything. As late as the 1970s, she was co-starring on Broadway with Ruby Keeler in  the musical No No Nanette, winning a Tony Award.

BTW-- Patsy's choice was famed Broadway actress Tallulah Bankhead.

Since the first time I saw my first classic movie at 9,  I wanted to marry the star  of Of Human Bondage-- Leslie Howard.

He's always been my Hollywood choice.

But if I went International, I think I would have to give it all up for Akira Kurosawa's leading actor--

The great an exceedingly handsome Toshiro Mifune-- Toshibo is the Greatest!

Miyamoto Musashi could not have been more brilliantly portrayed by any other actor or swordsman.

When I was a kid, I wanted to marry Robert Donat. I was crushed when my mom told me he had been dead for nearly 20 years ( I was somewhat naive and didn't know the films I was watching were old.)

Now, I would say Edward G. Robinson. He was kind, mild mannered, private, artistic, smart and went to great lengths for his country ( which many other actors did, as well.) By all accounts, he also seemed like a family man.
