Sundays And Cybele (1962)

2 posts in this topic

This French film won the Academy Award for best Foreign Language film for 1962. It's about a shell shocked soldier (Hardy Kruger) who develops a friendship with an abandoned little girl (Patricia Gozzi) staying in Catholic boarding school.

I love this film, it is touching and very unique. The scenes between Kruger and Gozzi are innocent and sweet, and the ending heart breaking. The final part of the film takes place during Christmas and it has become a Christmas staple for me to watch at Yuletide. The DVD has some special features and there is a great interview with now grown up Patricia Gozzi, she is still recognizable with those big expressive dark eyes. Is there anyone else a fan of this one?

I saw it at the Fine Arts Theater in New York City and I still remember it fondly.

I would love to get the DVD.
