!!OSCAR QUIZ!!

63 posts in this topic

Yes, it's that time again.. An Oscar quiz!  This one's a little different..and will take all week.  Here's the premise: I will post seven pictures everyday that are cut from a frame of an Oscar nominated (for best film) movie..they may be objects, or scenes..but they will NOT show any identifying characters.  Some are easy (not 'Rosebud' easy..), a few hard, but most will trigger a connection to the film-savvy people that roam the boards here.  If no one gets one on one day, don't worry..you can still guess later.  There are 42 pictures..so after six days, we'll tally the scores.  I will only tell you if you're right or not..no more clues.  The most important thing to remember is the answer will be an Oscar nominated film.   Hope everyone has fun figuring it out!

These are from 7 dfferent movies, correct? And some may be winners, not just nominees?

I would guess #3 is Midnight Cowboy.

#6 is maybe The Graduate?

#2-- Paper doll Cut-outs on a phonograph turntable of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dancing the Continental, the Academy Award-winning song of 1934.

Later they actually danced the Continental for real in the Gay Divorcée. Gay Divorcée was also nominated that year for Best Picture.

Before I post the 7 pics for today...just to clarify--no duplicates-42 pics, 42 films.  Yes, some may have won, but you know the old saying 'you have to be nominated to win' (? maybe it's not an old saying)  I've decided to delete the pictures of the films guessed correctly, so the only ones showing will be those still up for grabs..which as of one minute ago, means number 7! (is that a good idea?)

11. Gulliver's Travels?

That wasn't a Best Picture nominee. And I don't think we're getting any hints on these.

Actually, I forgot that it had to be a best picture nominee and just thought it had to be nominated for "something". I know we are not getting hints. Damn blurry picture:D
