Now Watching: Madigan (1968)

3 posts in this topic

Madigan (1968) - TCM

w/ Richard Widmark, Henry Fonda, Inger Stevens, Harry Guardino, James Whitmore, Susan Clark, Michael Dunn and Don Stroud. And directed by Don Siegel.

Oddly, I've only seen the beginning of this movie before. And twice for that matter. I may have to quietly hide behind a locked door to make sure nothing comes up this time.

It has a highly-regarded reputation but I'm in the some boat as yourself. I've never seen it all the way through so I suspect there must be some hook or hint in Act 1 which I've consistently missed and therefore the rest of the flick mystifies me as to its appeal. It looks very competent, sure--but also very 'workmanlike'.

Inger Stevens, another one of those "ill-starred" actresses. Took her own life as I recall. :(
