new "Roseanne" a sign of the times?

59 posts in this topic

I can kind of see Antiques Roadshow going in either direction, depending

on one's POV. You've got your old white people types bringing in their

Tiffany gewgaws, and then you've got your artsy types with their modernist

paintings. Take your pick.

And I don't watch a single program listed there.

Me too. The only show I really like is Twin Peaks: the Return.

Me neither.

I watch Conan, SNL, Modern Family - and lots of reruns of past shows like The Larry Sanders Show, Newsradio, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Corner Gas, Louie, The Office, Seinfeld, Inside Amy Schumer, and 30 Rock.

Amusement, ay.

Bill Maher Confronts ‘Dear Friend’ Roseanne Barr Over Donald Trump Support

The comedian also suggested a “more realistic” Trump-themed plot line for the second season of “Roseanne.”

.... The comedian reminded Barr of her socialist roots. “You’re not Archie Bunker, you’re Bernie Sanders,” he stated.
..........." I get that you were mad as hell and wanted to throw a monkey wrench into the whole works, and I won’t judge that,” Maher said. “But if in the next six months you don’t see Trump’s magic starting to work for you, if you’re still trading pills and driving an Uber, wouldn’t the more realistic plot line for season two be your disillusionment with Donald Trump?”

Yeah, 'cause Donald Trump should get the degeneration of the last 24 years fixed in 1 or 2, with or without co-operation from the Establishment.

He's just that awesome - right, Bill?

Roseanne Barr's character fears her Muslim neighbors are building bomb in a new episode https://nydn.us/2FPmgpj

When's the episode where they worry that DJ's going to shoot up a school?

<_<

She sounds like a female Archie Bunker-- but she's no Carroll O'Connor, that's for sure.

From your article-

But Conner eventually learns her lesson after she actually gets to know her neighbors personally.

"She wanted to get a comeuppance for her own bias," Dave Caplan, the show's co-executive producer, says in a video teasing the episode.

"Once she gets to know them, she realizes there are probably more similarities than differences," he said.

Caplan says the episode was Barr's idea, and that the show's writers were onboard almost immediately after she pitched it.

Barr, meanwhile, says she thought it'd be "really relevant" to do a show about "immigrants and prejudice."

I don't like her political beliefs either but this episode seems fine.

So she's a semi-moron and also obnoxious, loud mouthed and rude. Sort of like a

Judge Judy without the education and carrying an extra 100 pounds. Poor DJ hasn't

had much of a part in the show yet, just like in much of the original series. Roseanne

isn't very realistic. The new neighbors just happen to be Muslims with a lot of fertilizer

around and they later meet Roseanne at the grocery store and they're both on food

stamps. Yeah, happens all the time.

Roseanne has always been on top of that American pulse.

In a way she's brilliant for today-- - because she's the typical idiot, trashy trump supporter.

And some people tune in to identify with her, while probably many more  tune in to deride her and to laugh at her.

You don't have a consistently number one TV show without knowing exactly what's out there and how to relate to it.

american TV has been overwhelmingly leftist since the early seventies and they can't even handle just one show that doesn't kowtow to liberals and liberalism...

like I said.

Roseanne has always been a loud mouth rude ignoramus. Likely always will be.

Doesn't matter. If you get your politics from a dumb sitcom you're already in

trouble.

Charlie's Angels was a left wing show. Okayyyy.

I'm sensing more producer Sara Gilbert's agenda, rather than Roseanne's ;)

Yes, Walker, Texas Ranger, any Tim Allen sitcom, any lily white sitcom that takes place in multi-cultural cities like New York, - shows like these just reek of Hollywood liberalism.

Are you  under the impression that liberals actually like non-whites and want to associate with them?

Um - it's all theory with libs, dear. They don't actually want to be around those people. They just want to virtue signal at awards shows.

yeah, but the difference is no one was hating on her before and now they are

Charley's Angels was just sixties hoot 'Batman' in the 70's - with chicks instead of Adam West and Robin.

Sure they were. Remember when she did that godawful rendition of the

National Anthem? I'm sure some right wingers called her all kinds of names.

Petticoat Junction. Lots of curves you bet, more leftists when you get to

the Junction...Petticoat Junction. The show with a character called Uncle Joe.

Is that when Roseanne and Tom mooned the American flag?

Rosanne is just more of the same 21st Century junk on the boob tube. The biggest reason to watch TCM is not having to watch other channels. Leave to ABC to cancel Last Man Standing, yet reboot Rosanne. If you want really great politics on TV, find reruns of Boston Legal.

She told them when they asked her that she couldn't do it 'cause she couldn't sing worth ****. But they were all excited to be able to send a celebrity out there all unexpected and everything and told her not to worry about her singing, just be funny.

So she did. She did some baseball-isms in an effort to be funny. Spitting, digging at the groin. She'd been told by the guys that sent her out that that's what was wanted.

Boy, was she set up or was she set up?

Wasn't that cancelled 'cause so few people were watching it anymore?
