"Charactor actors" is a lost art form.

None of the contemporary westerns have anyone approaching Slim Pickens or Chill Wills.

Don't they teach scratchy voicing or even regional dialects in method school?

I don't know, I think Sam Elliot has a wonderful face and voice for westerns and since he is older now he tends to get the character actor roles.

Another that I liked was Dennis Quaid in "Wyatt Earp", not as flashy as Val Kilmer in "Tombstone" but a wonderful character role for him.

Powers Booth is another one with a great voice and look for westerns. Jim Beaver, Tommy Lee Jones, Scott Glenn, Robert Duvall and almost all of the cast of "Deadwood" are just of the ones that come to mind.

The really new ones don't have much charisma and are average looking at best, especially the actors. And the women look scrawny.

Certainly there are no Walter Brennans, Gabby Hayes' , Walter Hustons, or Ward Bonds. Maybe cause there are no Jack Fords or John Hustons?

I've never pursued acting before, but with my present stage of age and dental problems, I feel I'd be ideal for Gabby Hayes type roles.
