Patrick Little is running for the Senate in CA. His platform? Well, Mr. Little wants "all Jews removed from the country." (And yes that is real.)

Interesting side note: Mr. Little is currently polling well above the other Republicans & will probably win the GOP nomination.

And this is how it starts little by little.

Trump likely to end public access to a web portal that lets hundreds of thousands of consumers each year file complaints against financial companies. “I don’t see anything in here that says I have to run a Yelp for financial services,” CFPB’s Mulvaney says

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau may end public access to complaints lodged about banks, its chief saying he doesn't need to ‘run a Yelp for financial services’

This is a movement against the American people.

The President of the United States starts the week by coming out in favor of torture.

I’m not judging Gina Haspel, not my area of expertise. I’m aware she implemented policies DOJ & WH Counsel approved & they were vetted on the Hill. Torture was wrong & it didn’t work. A President who insists torture is the path forward is wrong.

Perhaps someone should explain to @realDonaldTrump that what he glibly refers to as “tough on terror” is actually “torture,” which is a war crime with no statute of limitations and universal jurisdiction for arrest and prosecution.

I wonder if trump has ever even heard of the Nuremberg Trials?

The GOP has to really ask themselves why is it that pedophiles, convicts, racists, bigots, Neo-Nazis are all choosing to run as Republicans. Worse yet, they are actually mounting credible campaigns and getting support. It should worry any Republican left with an iota of decency.

The racist birther finally has a big bigoted tent

A new statement from the First Lady's comms director uses the phrase "opposition media"

DcrxpcJXUAAAqLw.jpg

This is an attack on the First Amendment.

But having grown up in a communist, Soviet inspired country, Melania probably doesn't understand freedom of the press anyway.

And a lack of understanding of American  journalistic norms-- which are opposite those from a  totalitarian  propagandistic viewpoint --could be causing all this plagiarism on her part, as well.

President Trump appears to be threatening to take away media credentials. But if a White House ever did that, TV reporters would simply continue to report from outside the WH gates, and print reporters would continue to publish their stories.

Access matters - it shows an Administration is confident enough to answer tough questions about its decisions and explain to the American people what’s going on. But shutting down access would never shut down coverage.

"Take away credentials?" These authoritarian impulses of yours are anti-American.

trump doesn't even understand the First Amendment and worst than that--

he doesn't seem to understand that he has sworn an oath to defend the Constitution.

But like the Goldstar father said, I doubt if trump has even read the Constitution.

The Trump effect: New study connects white American intolerance and support for authoritarianism

The research suggests that when intolerant white people fear democracy may benefit marginalized people, they abandon their commitment to democracy.

......... white people who did not want to have immigrants or people of different races living next door to them were more likely to be supportive of authoritarianism. For instance, people who said they did not want to live next door to immigrants or to people of another race were more supportive of the idea of military rule, or of a strongman-type leader who could ignore legislatures and election results. ....
.... White people continue to decrease as a percentage of the U.S. population; at some point, it's going to be impossible to win a national, democratic American election with a platform that alienates people of color. ....

A clear line has been drawn with the release of Trump's legal memo. Make no mistake, it is a direct attack on the rule of law and a declaration of absolute power on the part of the President. Its thesis must be attacked relentlessly. The American Republic is worth fighting for.

Any member of Congress that supports the legal thesis of the Trump letter is a friend of illiberalism and unfaithful to their constitutional oaths. There is no room for debate or disagreement here. Supporting this crazy theory is an assault on the Republic.

Sinclair Lewis said “when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross”. Make no mistake about the intentions of the men making this argument. They are trying to radically change the nature of American democracy. Their arguments are unpatriotic.

The American people will now get to watch a disgusting display of political cowardice as Paul Ryan and all the rest line up behind Trump's assertion of absolute power like *Vichy Sheep. Freedom is being attacked by the very people sworn to preserve it.

George Washington’s greatest legacy is that he was the first human being in thousands of years who could have been a King or Emperor and chose instead to be a President with limited Powers. We don’t have Kings in America. If we did, I’d much rather it be Elizabeth than Trump.

*Vichy Sheep: See reference below.

*Re: Steve Schmidt Post/ "Vichy Sheep"

"Vichy Sheep" refers to France's collaborationist government during World War II, which collaborated with Adolf Hitler's Nazis.

After the war the Vichy Prime Minister Pierre Laval was put on trial for treason and found guilty. He was executed in October 1945 by firing squad.

That it may well be,

but the novel that he wrote: " It Can't Happen Here"  certainly illustrates that point.

And sadly his most famous cinematically adapted novel, "Elmer Gantry" certainly well represents the hypocrisy  and  materialism of the current batch of  white evangelicals.

I wonder if Lewis' literary reputation will ever be upgraded. He doesn't seem to get the same

attention that many of his peers do. My favorites are Main Street and Babbitt. He really had

the American system down pat, both a hundred years ago and today.

This interview is as outlandish as it is dangerous. The US Ambassador to Germany is taking a rooting interest in German domestic politics and seems to have a fetish for blood and soil European nationalists with autocratic impulses. Trump's America alone strategy will cost us

trump supporting fascist political parties in Europe.....
