I was going to guess The Last Detail, but I've never seen it so I don't know if Mrs. Joey Banana King is in it or not- think maybe not......

Geeez! I thought everyone might have a bit of trouble with this one, but you got it in one clue!!

 

Starred June Allyson and a young Jack Lemmon, fresh from his win of an Oscar for Mr. Roberts. True, it was a remake of "It Happened One Night" but this time around it was a color musical, produced and directed by Dick Powell. (who happened to be Allyson's husband...) Most notable for its theme-song, sung by the Four Aces.

Changed from origional clue. I had started on a number of questions regarding a movie that may have been too recent to qualify for the term "classic". The new selection is a better choice.

what qualifies for a movie to be considered"classic"???

time seems to be the answer,,,mayi suggest 1979 as a cut off date??>?

That suits me. My origional choice, Eddie Macon's Run (1983), would not have fitted in
