Your Favorite Child Stars

Ron Howard was also in "Music Man' and some thriller with Yul Brenner playing a Communist officer holding a bus of American tourist in Eastern Europe. The name of the flick slips me right now.

One child actor missed so far is Dickie Moore who is still alive I believe.

I just would like to step in to suggest a marvelous performance by Ana Torrent?s seven-yrs-old character in the award winning Spanish movie, ?The Spirit of the Beehive?, 1973, which premiered on TCM this past summer.

I also loved the child actor?s performance of Freddie Bartholomew in 1937 award winning classic, ?Captain Courageous?. What a delight of a movie.

I was highly moved and captivated by the above excellent child actors? performances -- to say the least, the make both movies to be magnificent.

I agree with you, he's great in Captains Courageous, one of my favorite movies. Very moving how he transforms from a brat. I also agree with Barney about Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird, she's very good in that role, another of my favorite movies.

?Brat?, hah, hah, I like the way you pictured Freddie Bartholomew before he transmormed into an honorable and noble child. He was very popular in his time as a child actor but I haven?t seen him in any other movie than Captain Courageous.

Nice poster of young actress Ana Torrent with her sister when The Spirit of the Beehive was released in 1973:

Picture clips of Ana Torrent in another classic ?Cr?a Cuervos?(Raise Raven) 1976, nominated for a Golden Globe & other 6 wins & 2 nominations.

With Geraldine Chaplin as her mother:

I also like these ones in CC, with/without Geraldine Chaplin: http://s90.photobucket.com/albums/k242/Mouselemur/cria%20cuervos/?action=view?t=cria58.jpg

So did anyone else enjoy watching Margaret O'Brien in Bad Bascomb yesterday?

Of course! It's probably my least favorite of her roles, simply because they didn't give her much to work with until the last forty minutes, when she was finally allowed to shine. Really loved the banter between Wallace Beery and Marjorie Main, though they could have used much more of it. Not crazy about westerns, but the three of them make this one worth watching whenever it's aired. I much prefer Three Wise Fools from the same year, where she was brilliant.
