George Clooney had a regular featured role on NBC's The Facts of Life. Here's the season 7 opener from 1986:

Yes, I wonder if they killed him off because of some sort of backlash. But then, none of Steven's boyfriends lasted long on the show.

Yes, it wasn't until "Dynasty: The Reunion" that Steven Carrington actually had a life partner.

And the original actor Al Corley had resumed the role.

Scott Bakula starring in NBC's Quantum Leap:

Great show with the handsome Mr Bakula who has aged very nicely- there was a gay theme episode which was so heavily cut by the time it aired it barely made any references to the gay angle- I think it was set in some military school

I did not watch the show "religiously." I would catch the occasional episode, usually during summer reruns.

Sorry for circling back to Will & Grace, but I could not pass up the opportunity to post this. Matt Bomer and David Schwimmer are among the hot guys guest starring this season. Schwimmer begins at the 1:10 mark.

Me too. They would make a hot couple.

I read on a different website (TVLine, I think) Matt Bomer is a news anchor who is going to be Eric McCormack's boyfriend. I must confess I was initially disappointed when I found out David would be playing Debra Messing's boyfriend because I thought Eric and David would make a hot couple. I cheered up when I read about the Eric/Matt pairing. It would be an interesting twist is David gets knocked up (visa vie Bristol Palin) and Matt uses Eric to get closer to Debra and hurt her campaign. I know that would never happen, but it would be an interesting twist.

Yeah, Emergency! was a fun show. Randolph Mantooth became a popular soap opera actor in the 80s and 90s. He had the looks to transition over to daytime dramas.

Mr Mantooth ( isn't that a perfect gay porn star name?) was in two daytime soaps- "As the World Turns" and " One Life to Live"- I wonder who played his good looking son  and the angry blonde guy?

Randy Mantooth's first main role on a soap was playing Alex Masters on Loving. He played that part from 1987 to 1995, and he probably would have continued but the show went off the air.

Screen Shot 2018-09-23 at 1.05.07 PM.jpg

When he turned up on As the World Turns in 2003 he was stepping in temporarily for an actor whose contract negotiations had stalled. He was meant to be short-term but the other guy ended up quitting because certain salary demands were not meant so Mantooth stayed in the role a few months longer to finish out the storyline. The other actor then ended up reaching a new deal with the show and came back, but by that time Mantooth was leaving anyway.

In 2005 the other actor ended up committing suicide (his personal life was very tumultuous). So Mantooth came back again because there were scripts that still needed to be filmed which couldn't be rewritten, and obviously with the other actor having died, the show needed Mantooth to temporarily take over once more. But at that point the show's producers and writers decided to kill the character off because the audience would never really accept a permanent recast. Mantooth was a team player and did what they needed him to do. The character was killed off and Mantooth once again left ATWT.

Shortly after this he moved over to One Life to Live. But it was another short-term role, a recurring character (seen in the clip you posted) that didn't really catch on. The OLTL writers ended up scrapping the storyline and redid it with the blonde kid finding out someone else was his father. The blonde kid was played by John-Paul Lovoisier. And as you can with the picture on his character's wiki page he wasn't always so blonde:

He was on One Life to Live for quite awhile, about ten years. Later he did another role on Days of Our Lives.
