SUTS 5 year rule?

5 posts in this topic

Didn't TCM have a rule/guideline (whatever you want to call it) that said that a star was only eligible for a day during Summer Under The Stars once ever five years? Asking because Joan Crawford had a day in 2015 and again this year.

I don't think they have any rules.

They try to use the big household names to balance out the more obscure stars. This means people like Joan Crawford, James Cagney, Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart and John Wayne turn up frequently. These people have large filmographies so a tribute from 2015 will not be identical to a tribute for the same star in 2018.

that makes sense. Someone at TCM HQ must have a thing for Joan Crawford because she shows up a lot compared to Bette Davis.

They do show a lot of Bette Davis's films too. Almost all her Warner Brothers work (not counting BEYOND THE FOREST) is in the TCM library.
