The Backlash

History Thread: On this September 11, it is factual to note the following about @RealDonaldTrump:

1) on the very day of the attacks, he bragged that the destruction of the World Trade Center meant that he now had the tallest bulding in lower Manhattan

2) @realdonaldtrump claimed - with no evidence - that “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated 9/11.

3) When reporters pointed out his 9/11 falsehoods, he chose to mock them - notably imitating the NYT's Serge Kovaleski, who has a congenital joint condition

4) Trump said he would make charitable contributions to 9/11 charities; the NYC Comptroller's Office reviewed some 1,500 pages records, containing the names of 110K individuals and entities - and found nothing from Trump in the year after 9/11

5) a separate review by The NY Daily News found no charitable contribution from Trump to either of the two principal 9/11 charities between 2001 and 2014; it says he finally gave 100K - after he entered the 2016 presidential campaign ##

Those Americans who voted for Trump should be particularly aware of the character of the man that they have put in the Oval Office,  while remembering 9/11.

When Trump tells a lie -- as with the handling of the disastrous Puerto Rico hurricane -- the magnitude and repetition of the lie is in direct proportion to how fully he believes he is guilty of the charge being made against him.

3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths. As time went by it did not go up by much. Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000...This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico. If a person died for any reason, like old age, just add them onto the list. Bad politics. I love Puerto Rico!

This is the result of a professional, habitual liar out of control.

Lying on this level is an indication of criminality or some serious result of a psychological or intellectual abnormality.

Individuals who maintain support for this kind of person are obviously putting their own personal agenda or financial gain above, not just the welfare of the nation, but  also above reality.

.@RealDonaldTrump has now made more than 5,000 false or misleading claims as president, says the WashPost. They are accelerating in both frequency and brazenness - and politicians and men of the cloth who support him don't seem to mind the example he sets

Obviously Harry Truman never met trump.

Backlash about what?

I don't understand fellow citizens who evidence theatrical gasps, open-mouthed facial expressions, throwing up of one's hands, running from one side of the room to the other, etc ....at every single friggin' piece of political news that flashes across the wire.

Is it a shock to anyone to realize that American political administrations lie to us on a daily basis? Does anyone still wonder that anyone in the White House is corrupt as a matter-of-routine, that they cheat us and deceive us as a conscious and deliberate goal? Politics is a business, and its usually a money-making business.

Why are people always so wide-eyed at allegations of corruption and chicanery behind the scenes? Is there anyone here who hasn't read "All the President's Men" by Woodward & Bernstein and seen how things actually work in D.C.? Is there anyone here who doesn't remember the Pentagon Papers scandal?

When Nixon was going down, do you not recall the numerous GOP senators who conveniently appeared as guest speakers on the news networks and assured everyone that there was no truth in what the Washington Post was reporting? Who told them to do that, who told them what to say? Their party, of course. And that was before conservatives took over the media.

These days, rest assured that everything you see or hear over electronic news, is probably a lie, or a cover story, or otherwise intended to mislead or misdirect. Statements like the one below--my god, how many times have I heard this? Same old hysterics, and ones which can be laid at the door of every political figure we've ever had. Aren't we all tired of being astonished all the time? Let's get rid of this absurd small-town hick naivete' as a first step to a better government. Recognize that the system is already corrupt to the bone.
