"Zabriskie Point" (1970)

Antonioni's Zabriskie Point (1970) was finally released on DVD this week - one of those movies people had been requesting on DVD for years, apparently.

Watching it again was a truly revealing experience. I hadn't seen it since college, and much to my surprise it doesn't really feel as tedious as I remembered it. For some reason I remembered almost everything taking place in the desert, and it actually is just a small part of the movie.

This is perhaps the last great movie of the counterculture of the late 60s and early 70s. In that regard, it really does feel like a time capsule at times, with the college students portrayed in the movie constantly talking about fighting The Man, etc.

The soundtrack is cool, too. ;)
