This is how Trump’s North Korean love interest behaves. I’d like to imagine Trump was a human who would think twice now about his affection for this murderous dictator, but that would be foolish. He’s likely to feel envy & admiration.

When a ruthless authoritarian dictator is displeased with your political work for the government oh, he doesn't re-sign you, retire you or ask for your resignation-- he executes you.. Stalin was quite Infamous for this particular route.

Any world leader who has come to power in a democratic country and who admires ruthless dictators is not only a danger to his own country but to the world.

What Connects Meghan Markle to a Philosopher of Totalitarianism?

Donald Trump’s Lies.

".......He later told reporters: “I made no bad comment.”

You’ll be shocked to discover that Rupert Murdoch-owned The Sun did not fabricate a quote from the U.S. president. Neither did CNN nor the New York Times. Trump did say the word “nasty.” There is even an audio recording of it!

Yet he denied it. Flatly. Brazenly. Publicly. Proudly. Unashamedly.

We know that Trump is the gaslighter-in-chief. The Washington Post’s fact-checkers say he has made more than 10,000 “false or misleading claims” since entering the Oval Office.........

..... “a leader with authoritarian tendencies will lie in order to make others repeat his lie both as a way to demonstrate and strengthen his power over them.”

“Saying something obviously untrue, and making your subordinates repeat it with a straight face in their own voice, is a particularly startling display of power over them,” explained Levy.

“It’s something that was endemic to totalitarianism.”.......

Reality does not matter to these people. It is irrelevant. In fact, Trump’s strategy, to quote Levy once more, is to “undermine the existence of shared belief in truth and facts.”

Why?

“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule,” wrote Arendt in her 1951 classic “The Origins of Totalitarianism,” “is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction (i.e., the reality of experience) and the distinction between true and false (i.e., the standards of thought) no longer exist.”

..... “If everybody always lies to you, the consequence is not that you believe the lies, but rather that nobody believes anything any longer.

And with such a people you can then do what you please.”....

Trump isn’t just bullshitting or deflecting; he isn’t just demented or defensive; he is actively and consciously borrowing from the authoritarian’s playbook. He lies because he can — and because it serves his purpose. To control, to bully, to degrade those under him and around him. To both command and demonstrate unbending loyalty from his cultish base. This is who he is — and who he has always been.

“His aim is never accuracy,” observes Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter of Trump’s 1987 memoir “The Art of the Deal.” As he notes, “it’s domination.” .......

Some well-meaning liberals have suggested that fact-checking Trump is a distraction; rebutting his avalanche of lies is a waste of time. Nothing could be further from the truth.

“Insisting on the difference between truth and lies is itself a part of the defense of freedom,” ..........

Like the 3rd or 4th time Team Trump has made it clear they would take info on a political rival from a foreign power if offered — again.

Dictators are above the law.

Trump’s companies continue to take money from foreign governments with business before his White House. This reeks of corruption. My #EndCorruptionNow bill would make these conflicts of interest illegal.

Dictators use their public office and access to foreign governments to enrich themselves and their family.

Who is trump working for?

Is he more concerned about the betterment of his family business and his foreign contacts,

than he is about the welfare of Americans and the United States of America?

He reminds me of Papa Doc in Haiti.

Replying to @realDonaldTrump

Classic authoritarian rhetoric from Trump regime, but our success is tied to the American people and institutions, not one person (especially an incompetent, cruel, corrupt, authoritarian).

And dictators like Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin were convinced that only they could save their countries and that they alone were more important than any laws, institutions, or historical traditions in those countries.
