I've seen them all. Some odd choices. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a horror film? No. Neither was Hellboy II.

My top choice for 2008 would be Let the Right One In and Martyrs. But perhaps they don't include foreign language movies. If so, my favorite English language choice is Cloverfield. If one considers that more SF than horror, then I'd choose Splinter, The Burrowers, The Ruins, or Pontypool.

My top choice for 2011, other than The Cabin in the Woods which technically is a 2011 release, not 2012, would be The Innkeepers or Kill List. Several films from that year that are identified as horror are not horror in my opinion, such as Take Shelter, The Skin I Live In, and You're Next, all of which I liked.
