Trump vs Turkey & Kurdish allies....

200 posts in this topic

As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I,

in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits,

I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!).

They must, with Europe and others, watch over...
....the captured ISIS fighters and families.

The U.S. has done far more than anyone could have ever expected, including the capture of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate.

It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory.

THE USA IS GREAT!

Replying to
“I, in my great and unmatched wisdom” sounds like malignant narcissism from Kim Jong Un or Joseph Stalin.

Trump is the enemy of the people all over the world.

His negotiations with North Korea fell apart and Trump thinks he can control Turkey with some strongly worded tweets.

#SDF says that agreement with US to drawdown from key positions in N. #Syria

means that, with #Turkey's threat to launch an imminent offensive,

it's become "a mechanism of death" that will

"displace our people& change the stable & secure region into a zone of... permanent war."
-------------------------------------------------

Basically the US persuaded the SDF Kurds to dismantle defensive positions that deterred Turkey,

promising security guarantees in exchange.

Then once the SDF Kurds became defenseless, Trump gave Erdogan the green light to invade.

Hard to imagine a more sinister sequence of events.

Trump’s former ISIS envoy excoriates his Syria decision.
Brett McGurk, who resigned along with Mattis, says

Trump "blusters and then leaves our allies exposed when adversaries call,"

describes Trump's actions in Syria as a “gift to Russia, Iran, and ISIS.”

Based on our confidence in the #US efforts in the Security Mechanism agreement,
we implemented all our commitments to remove military fortifications between Tal Abyad & SereKaniye,
withdraw combat forces with heavy weapons,

risking a security vacum as a result of the agreement.

(2) But Erdogan's threats are aimed to change the security mechanism into a mechanism of death,

displace our people & change the stable & secure region into a zone of conflict and permanent war.

(3) Any #Turkish attack will result in:
1. Reverse the successful effort to defeat #ISIS, where #SDF sacrificed 11K martyrs of our sons & daughters over 5 years of war, which led to destroy the caliphate & created stability & security for the people of NE #Syria.

(4) 2. A long-term war in the region making #Syria a permanent conflict area. While the international community look for Syria political solution, the Syrian people suffer years of war and migration.

Thank you Prime Minister Erdogan for joining us yesterday to celebrate the launch of #TrumpTowers Istanbul!

Our allies we fought and died with against #ISIS sold out for #TrumpTowers Istanbul. The Trumps devalue our service and our national security.

The Syrian Kurds have fought shoulder to shoulder with our troops to defeat ISIS

and with one tweet, Donald Trump has abandoned them.

Once again, he’s operating as a one-man show, making huge policy changes on a whim

and ignoring the advice of national security experts.

Trump Agrees to Let Turkey Invade Kurdish-Controlled Syrian Area

".....On Sunday, the White House released a statement that surprised many in the region. It said, quote,

“Today, President Donald J. Trump spoke with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey by telephone. Turkey will soon be moving forward with its long-planned operation in Northern Syria. The United States Armed Forces will not support or be involved in that operation, and the United States forces, having defeated the ISIS territorial ‘Caliphate,’ will no longer be in the immediate area.”

The announcement marks a major shift in U.S. policy.........

The U.S. Is Now Betraying the Kurds for the Eighth Time

"......The Kurds are an ethnic group of about 40 million people centered at the intersection of Turkey, Syria, Iran, and Iraq. Many naturally want their own state. The four countries in which they live naturally do not want that to happen.

On the one hand, the Kurds are a perfect tool for U.S. foreign policy. We can arm the Kurds in whichever of these countries is currently our enemy, whether to make trouble for that country’s government or to accomplish various other objectives.

On the other hand, we don’t want the Kurds we’re utilizing to ever get too powerful. If that happened, the other Kurds — i.e., the ones living just across the border in whichever of these countries are currently our allies — might get ideas about freedom and independence.

Here’s how that dynamic has played out, over, and over and over again since World War I. ........

Analysis: President Trump hands over northern Syria to Turkey

"....The latest White House statement never once mentioned the contribution of those SDF combatants – the vast majority made up of Syrian-Kurdish YPG fighters

-- and took sole U.S. credit for defeating the ISIS territorial "Caliphate."

Now it appears the Trump administration is abandoning those Kurdish allies altogether, in favor of the Kurds' nemesis, the Turkish government. Turkey has been fighting separatist Kurds across the border inside its own territory for decades, and in recent years has incurred several times into Syria to fight against Syrian Kurds.

For Donald Trump to hand the fate of Syria's Kurds over to their sworn enemy Turkey

not only represents a major disservice to the people who did more to defeat ISIS in Syria than anyone else,

but it also sends an ominous message to any group who would ever consider allying themselves to the United States in the future.....

You have faith in his wishy-washy stupidity.  He man has no idea what he is doing, other than to enrich himself.  He doesn’t care if the Turks commit genocide of the Kurds, as long as he gets cash or Biden dirt.

Turkey is killing Kurds. Right now.

Our allies in the fight against ISIS are dying.

Because Trump - the unethical, stupid, delusional, megalomaniac - decided without input it was a neat idea to leave them at Turkey's mercy.

The peace zone is gone. Here come Iran and Russia.

A separate Kurdish state, I don't think so.

And your point being.....?

This is not about Donald Trump saying we don’t want to establish a Kurdish State.  This is about Trump leaving our allies out to dry.  There was no warning,  no discussion, just a conversation with Turkish President Erdowan, and Trump cows to Erdowan’s demands!  He screws our main bulwark against ISIS, for whatever dirt Erdowns has on Trump, or can get for Trump.  The world became infinitely more dangerous with this rash decision; none of our allies will ever trust us again, or go to the mat for us.  Trump has destabilized an unstable reason.

With "leadership" like Trump's, betraying an ally and leaving them exposed for slaughter, how much will the U.S. be able to rely upon other allies to assist them in a military conflict in the future? You lost a good man in James Mattis in anticipation of this back stab of the Kurds.

Trump's action is a stain on honour, decency and morality.

You reap what you sow.

Chaos in Syria, Washington after Trump call with Erdogan unleashed Turkish military

U.S. forces in Syria got an urgent alert Monday morning to pull back. "They were told, 'We're departing the field,'" senior U.S. defense officials said.

........ the White House's announcement of the decision late Sunday night blindsided not just America's Kurdish partners in the fight against the Islamic State militant group, or ISIS, in Syria,

but almost everyone — senior officials at the Pentagon, the State Department and the White House, lawmakers on Capitol Hill, and U.S. allies in Europe and the Middle East. .......

"Even Trump is starting to realize that maybe he didn't handle this too well, and is maybe trying to walk it back," the official said. "I think you're going to see some backpedaling." .....
