SCARAMOUCHE

Correct, it's Scaramouche.  Stewart Granger, Eleanor Parker ( I think she was great in this one) Janet Leigh, Mel Ferrer. Always enjoy watching this film. Your thread Arturo

Thank you Lavenderblue.  I agree about Eleanor Parker in this one.

Next:  A woman is hiding in another country, to avoid testifying about her ex-lover.

Ssorry, guess I hadn't ventured past the first page of threads.

The woman meets a man there, also an American.  They hit it off, and make a date.  But she sees a newspaper article where another person who fled to avoid testifying is found dead.  She makes plans to move from the town where she's been hiding.

She realizes she has to hock some jewelry in order to have enough to flee town.  While trying to do this, she runs into the killer of the other guy.

He chases her around, and corners her, but she stabs his hand with a pen and gets away.

She takes refuge in an inn, and sends a message to the man she was supposed to meet earlier, to meet her there.

The man meets her there, and they go to a resort are for the night.  They witness a celebration, a brutal marital quarrel, spend the night together and fall in love.  The killer has been following and observing them, of which they are unaware

The next morning, they make long term plans during breakfast.  However, the killer catches up with her, and threatens to kill the other man.

Having previously expressed to the woman his desire for her, the killer states he will not kill the man she loves if she goes off with him (the killer).  She agrees.

The woman tells the man she loves that she has to buy a few things, and will meet him for lunch.  She then goes off with the killer.
