Both Power and Shariff played this character on the screen. (For legal purposes, Ty's character had a fake name.)

Omar Sharif played Nicky Arnstein in "Funny Girl" opposite Barbra Streisand's Fanny Brice....

In "The Rose of Washington Square", Alice Faye's character, Rose Sargent, was similar to Fanny Brice and even sang "My Man", Brice's signature song.... Tyrone Power played Nicky Arnstein under a different name, Barton DeWitt Clinton, because of legal issues....Apparently, Fanny Brice sued 20th Century Fox and the suit was settled out of court...

Yeah, Mudskipper, apparently Miss Brice rained on the parade of profits for "Rose".

Bert and Ernie- best friends in *It's A Wonderful Life* and Sesame Street . Don't know for sure, conflicting rumors, but Sesame Streets' Bert and Ernie may have been named for those pals (Bert and Ernie) Frank Faylen and Ward Bond as the cop and the cabdriver from the film. ( I'd like to think so)

Good job, mudskipper it's your thread.
