4- Jack Lemmon agreed to appear in drag in SOME LIKE IT HOT, because Wilder promised him that if he agreed to do it, he would have a plum role for him to follow it up. Baxter in THE APARTMENT turned out to be the role he was talking about.

10-----The scene in Baxter's initial workplace in which it looks as if there were hundreds of desks in a very large room was done with camera tricks. There were actually only a few desks used in the shot.
