I would really like to see a day dedicated to the great Ralph Bakshi. He isn't an actor. He's an Animator and Director. I would really enjoy his best work which took place in the 70's and early 80's. His best during that period are:

Fritz The Cat (1972) Fritz is a Tom-Cat college dropout trying to find himself amongst everything happening in the 60's.

Heavy Traffic (1973) Animated version of the problems growing up in a dysphunctional family in the 70's.

Coonskin (1975) A satirical look at race relations in America in the 70's.

Wizards (1977) On a post-apocalyptic Earth, a Wizard and his Faire folk comrades fight an evil Wizard.

Lord Of The Rings (1978) A 132 minute animated version of the J.R.R. Tolkien classic.

American Pop (1981) The story of four generations of a Russian Jewish family of musicians.

Hey Good Lookin' (1982) An animated tale of growing up in Brooklyn in the 1950's.

Fire And Ice (1983) A classic battle between good and evil. I believe many video games took this animated feature as their inspiration.

Sounds interesting. By the way, this year would be the 100th birthday of Warners animator Chuck Jones.

They rate the print quality, with an 'A' rating being highest. Most seem to have a 'B' rating. My guess is that many of the more obscure titles have come from television broadcasts, either from the old AMC or PBS. Or from foreign copies and private collections.

There is a disclaimer that says all the titles they sell are in the public domain, but I do not know whether that is entirely true. For their sake and ours, I hope so!

That disclaimer is not true, it is what every site that sells bootlegs does to later claim ignorance if they are ever pursued by the FBI.

Print quality is a hard thing because what some consider awful, I may consider decent and vice versa. I also hate the way VHS to DVD transfers look sometimes. I'm one of those holding out for TCM to finally air these films or the studios to take a page out of Warner Archive's book....but I don't think I will be able to hold out for long. I am a completist of a few stars and I don't know how else I can get access to certain films!!

The site is rather pricey, but they have their own featured monthly performer. In November it was Charles Boyer and in December it was Clara Bow. So if you are a completist when it comes to the featured performer, you can probably nicely add to your collection at a somewhat reasonable price.

P.S. I just checked and Barry Fitzgerald is the featured performer in January. There are 13 titles for him and many are very obscure Paramount releases from the 1940s.
