While perusing the foxconnect site, I noticed several titles (presumably part of the Fox Cinema Archives line) that I'm pretty sure have never been announced. And I couldn't find them listed on Amazon or any of the other sites that I'm aware of offering this line. The mystery titles include Zoo in Budapest (1933), Belle Starr (1941), Tales of Manhattan (1942) and The Walls of Jericho (1948). There may be others I didn't spot.

Zoo in Budapest is tough to come by, so it caught my attention right away. If you use the code "REFUND" before April 19, you can get 30% off, bringing the price to $14 a piece. Just thought I'd mention it.

Edge, have you been pleased with your recent FCA purchases?

Thanks for mentioning it. I found "Thanks a Million" and "Advice to the Lovelorn", which are both hard to find. I used the REFUND code to get:

Wake Up and Live

Advice to the Lovelorn

Dreamboat.

You don't find these Fox titles on sale very often, Fox Movie Channel (the good part) doesn't show anything but Ferngully the Last Rain Forest on an endless loop anymore, and the reputation of the Fox Cinema Archives is very mixed. We shall see.

Thanks for the tip on the FOX titles. I ordered 6 titles and presume they will be shipped next week. Hopefully the quality is good otherwise I may return some of them to Amazon. DREAMBOAT looks very good on MOD. Glad I pre-ordered the 6 titles since they have now gone up to $17.99.

NoraCharles, I ordered BELLE STARR and TALES OF MANHATTAN from the FOX site. I am hoping BELLE STARR is the same print that ran on TCM some time ago. It looked quite beautiful. Don't know why these titles were not on pre-order from Amazon and saving tax and postage is a plus. Thanx again.

Update: I received only two of my three movies: Wake Up and Live and Dreamboat. Advice to the Lovelorn was not in the package or on the shipping statement. I called FoxConnect, and they were quite polite but had no answer as to why it was missing. I have a feeling FoxConnect has movies up for sale that haven't been released yet, but I'll give them a chance to explain and to either give me my movie or give me a refund.Just a heads up in case anybody else receives only some of the movies they ordered.

calvinnme, I'd wait for those titles. I ordered TALES OF MANHATTAN and BELLE STARR. I just think these titles are forthcoming in the next wave of FOX MODS. Usually people in the office are idiots and don;t know what is going on with releases. You won;t get a better price on Amazon plus free postage so be patient.

Oh, I'm more than willing to wait. I figured when the DVD didn't show up that it hasn't even been released yet. I just wanted everyone else to know if their orders came only partially filled.

I'm happy to say FOX released a flawless MOD of WAKE UP AND LIVE. Very entertaining musical which I had never seen before and includes some wonderful songs.

I ordered Zoo in Budapest and Clive of India, and they've yet to ship. I suspect Edge is right about them being listed too early on the site, but, hey, it was a better price than I'm likely to find. I'll give it some time before I worry about it.

These are actually my first two FCC purchases. I resent the dry-up of pressed classic releases, so I try to be picky about buying MOD discs. I have to really want the movie. I have European copies of A Royal Scandal and The Walls of Jericho or I may have picked those titles up. I still have dreams of actual Blu-ray releases for Forever Amber and Cluny Brown, but I've been known to have unrealistic expectations. :8}

I thought CLUNY BROWN would be a Criterion release. As for AMBER possibly a BR from Screen Archives? LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN (I don't think this one was mentioned) is coming in May from the Archives.

NoraCharles, I got a call from FOX CONNECT stating the two titles I pre-ordered won't be available. I called, but lets face it the people in customer service are so dumb it seems as if you were talking to a machine. They know absolutely nothing. So I assume my titles TALES OF MANHATTAN and BELLE STARR are forthcoming and someone jumped the gun and listed these as well as others before a release date was eminent. Wlll try to catch all upcoming titles on Amazan for pre-order to get a lower price.

Ugghh! X-(

I'm convinced FoxConnect is just incompetent. I mentioned that I ordered Clive of India, which had been previously announced, in addition to Zoo in Budapest. Well, that disc arrived today completely out of the blue - no email notification. When I log in to the site, it still doesn't list the item as shipped. I'll have to double check, but I don't think they charged me for it, either. ?:|

I was really looking forward to ZiB. Hopefully, these titles will show up eventually. Thanks for the update.

By the way, a Criterion release of Cluny Brown would be heaven. Fox leased Criterion several titles in years past (Unfaithfully Yours, Heaven Can Wait, etc.), and that was back when they were still releasing classics themselves!

I have Leave Her to Heaven pre-ordered from Screen Archives. Their Blu-rays are ridiculously overpriced, but I couldn't resist a Technicolor Gene Tierney in HD. :)

Its generally a waste to call customer service with problems of this type. They generally know less than we do. I guess they cancelled my order. I too order almost nothing from Screen Archives due to their exhorbitant prices. However, I will make an exception for LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN since its one of my favorites. I am impressed with the quality so far of the recent Archive release from FOX. My guess is that the films I purchased were already in good shape. However, I read that THE REMARKABLE MR. PENNYPACKER is a pan and scan so nothng has realy changed with them.
