What do these actresses have in common?

If I give the name of this person, I'll be giving the answer. But I'll try. This person is not mainly known for movies, but for the stage.

We don't seem to be getting any closer. I didn't realize that this would be so difficult. The common link is that each actress played a role originated by someone else.

You'll have to clue me in. Obviously, Mitzi Gaynor and Julie Andrews played roles originated by Mary Martin, but what's the Ava Gardner connection? I thought that Ava's only musical, "Show Boat", was in a role originated by Helen Morgan.

Ava Gardner was in the film version of "One Touch of Venus".

The movie version was no longer a musical, although the stage play was.

I definitely consider the movie version to be a musical. One of my favorites, in fact. Purists may say it's not as good as the original stage show, or other stage versions, but the movie version is the only version I've seen, and it works just fine for me as a fantasy/comedy musical.

Here are the songs performed in the movie:

*Hint:*

Although this may or may not have helped their film careers, this is not directly related to them. Nothing about movies.

Not accidents. This was likely considered by many to be a good thing. What they have in common was usually restricted to females until the 1960s and 1970s.
