Edward Everett Horton was Roy V. Bensinger in "The Front Page" (1931).

 

Ernest Truex was Roy B. Bensinger in "His Girl Friday" (1940).

 

David Wayne was Bensinger in "The Front Page" (1974).

That is exactly right, film lover, and you have the floor - or, as we say here, the thread.  (Can't help wondering why Bensinger's middle initial was changed from V in the 1931 film to B in the 1940 one.)
