4. Wyman was the first person in the sound era to win an Academy Award for playing a character who does not speak a line of dialogue. She received the 1948 Best Actress Oscar for her performance as a deaf-mute in "Johnny Belinda."

 

Note: There is a story, perhaps apocryphal, that a tipsy Dean Martin once encountered actor Robert Wagner wearing a "Prince Valiant" costume and wig -- and thought he was talking to Wyman.
