What I really liked about it, other than the fact that it's so unforced and isn't "set up" by a lot of tense atmospherics, is that there's that nice little coda of Murray's contented smile afterward as he's photographed with his head resting on Peter's shoulder. Beautifully done. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though it really welcomed in an age of naturalistic same-sex kissing in mainstream films, since this is the one we still point to all these years later.
Another terrific kiss - the one between Konrad (Michael York) and Helmuth (Anthony Corlan) in "Something For Everyone" -
The kiss between Zach (Michael Ontkean) and Bart (Harry Hamlin) was pretty intense in 1982's "Makikng Love" -
Matt Smith and Alexander Dreymon in Christopher and His Kind (2011):
Sebastian Flyte (Ben Whishaw) kisses Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) in the movie version of Evelyn Waugh's great novel, "Brideshead Revisited" -
Almost, but not quite, a kiss - Michael York and Helmut Griem in "Cabaret":
Master Sgt. Albert Callan (Rod Steiger) cannot resist the youth and beauty of Private First Class Tom Swanson (John Phillip Law) in John Flynn's unjustly neglected film, "The Sergeant" -
