Irene Dunne is one of the most wonderful Moms in the movie world in I REMEMBER MAMA.  She's one of my very favorite actresses (number three on my list).

Yes, I've come to really appreciate her. It astonishes me they never gave her an Oscar. Such an oversight. Many wannabes and lesser talents who earned Oscars, but not her-- I just don't understand it.

Totally agree; not even an honorary Oscar.  By the way, the early/afternoon schedule today is loaded with pre-codes from director Alfred E. Green.  For the evening, BLOOD SIMPLE is early Coen Brothers.  I saw it when it was released in the theater years ago.

Thanks for your comments/notes on today's schedule.

One consolation for Irene Dunne fans is she was recognized by the Kennedy Center Honors. But still...

I think RED DUST is the jewel in tonight's lineup.  Gable, Harlow and Mary Astor.  It 's pre-code so we get that sexy vibe among the actors.  Fun!

Yes, honestly, I think it's one of Gable's best films.

I like the difference in persona between the two women-- Astor really shines. Plus Gene Raymond is at his most handsome.
