Pre-Code Comedy

4 posts in this topic

I haven't yet watched Up The River (1930), but on the youtube link it mentions that it is a pre-code comedy. Not that I can't wrap my head around what that constitutes back then as means to now, but I was wondering what other pre-code comedies there are and which do you recommend?

Thank you for your suggestions. Any other films or stars to recommend?

Well, obviously the talkies made by the Marx Brothers would qualify as pre-code comedies.

And Marion Davies made pre-code comedies like IT'S A WISE CHILD and NOT SO DUMB:
