Anne Baxter was a regular on Hotel, and several classic stars like Donald O'Connor, Stewart Granger, Lew Ayres, Joan Fontaine, Martha Scott, Ginger Rogers, Liz Taylor checked in...and Baxter took over the part originated by...Bette Davis! (Eve strikes again)

Lana Turner and Leslie Caron took limited reoccurring roles in " Falcon Crest ".

 

(It may not have been in the 80s, I think it was a little earlier, but I just have to mention that

Troy Donahue was on CBS' "The Secret Storm". 

And according to the book "Mommie Dearest", Joan Crawford substituted for her daughter Christina on "The Secret Storm" as well.)
