ANDERSON, John, 69 (1922-92) was an ubiquitous presence on television, made-for-television films and theatrical films for 40 years, but he never had 1 particular role he was known for.  He also had a craggy face that made him look older than he was, O classic aficionado.   Your turn now!

Miles Malleson

I almost forgot the answer! I did see a play by Miles Malleson the week before I posted, though, so I guess he was on my mind.

Your thread.

Certainly, Terrence.  This actor started in British silent films before coming to Hollywood in 1924.  Heavy-set and balding, he played a number of butlers, socialites and burgomasters, appearing in many films in small or uncredited parts.  Here are a few more titles:

Libeled Lady

The Good Earth

The Little Princess

Andy Hardy Gets Spring Fever

The Bride Came C.O.D.

I like him best as the constable in The Invisible Man, but he is most famous for the Burgomaster in The Bride of Frankenstein--E.E. Clive.

Starlit, I'm trying to figure this one out without going to IMDB.  Is a hint possible?
