Healthcare in America?

  • The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of "liberalism" they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.
    • Reagan biographer Lou Cannon noted that this was a suspect quotation, and that he could find no evidence of it. Thomas did say that both major political parties had borrowed items from the Socialist Party platform.

Ryan's Plan:  Less for More?

"In a half-baked policy paper released on Thursday, the House speaker, Paul Ryan, trotted out washed-up ideas for “improving” the country’s health care system that would do anything but. For example, the paper calls for reducing spending on Medicaid, which now provides insurance to more than 74 million poor, disabled and older people. Many millions of them would be cast out of the program. The Republican plan would also force most people who don’t get their health insurance through an employer to pay more by slashing subsidies that the A.C.A., or Obamacare, now provides. The proposal would allow families to sock away more money in health savings accounts, which may sound good at first but would primarily benefit affluent people who can afford to save more.

The paper is Mr. Ryan’s blueprint for effectively repealing and replacing Obamacare. Unsurprisingly, he and his colleagues offered no estimates of how many people would lose coverage or how much premiums and deductibles would rise for middle-class and poor families....

-Again...No surprise <_<

Sure.  That plays into their belief that if you eliminate public assistance (welfare) then all those lazy bums would get off their lazy b u t t s and go get one of them JOBS they never seem to create.

Trump:

"Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated. I have to tell you, it’s an unbelievably complex subject."

Especially when it's treated as a for-profit commodity rather than a human right.

U.S.A. makes it needlessly complicated just so some people can make money from it for no reason whatsoever.

Opening a new front in the war against big pharma, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and a slew of Democratic colleagues introduced a bill Tuesday to allow commercial importation of drugs from Canada.....

"I want to finally say about our president, who has said a lot of talk about health care and has recently confessed how 'complicated’ he thinks it is. He has made promises to the American people about prescription drug prices; he has made promises to the American people, and now it's time for him to put up or shut up,” said Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), who joined as a co-sponsor after voting against drug importation when it was an amendment.

“It’s time for him to join with us, or, in my opinion, to confess his lies to the American people.”

The bill was immediately criticized by pharmaceutical industry's trade group,....

I can't see any intelligent reason why impovershed people and seniors should do without any medicines they need to keep them from dying or suffering miserably just because they can't afford the exorbitant prices the pharmecuticals put on them.

Seems the medical field has swayed from "First do no harm" to "Reach for the sky!"

Then there's THIS:

Fact check: Trump’s overly downbeat view of health law-

"TRUMP, in prepared remarks: “Obamacare is collapsing … so I am calling on all Democrats and Republicans in Congress to work with us to save Americans from this imploding Obamacare disaster.”

THE FACTS: There are problems with the 2010 health care law, but whether it’s collapsing is hotly disputed.

One of the two major components of the Affordable Care Act has seen a spike in premiums and a drop in participation from insurers. But the other component, equally important, seems to be working fairly well, even if its costs are a concern....

Ann Coulter: How to Provide Universal Health Care Using This One Easy Trick

The first sentence of Congress’ Obamacare repeal should read: “There shall be a free market in health insurance.”

Right there, I’ve solved the health insurance crisis for 90 percent of Americans. Unfortunately, no one can imagine what a free market in health care looks like because we haven’t had one for nearly a century.

Never work in a million years. Poor people would be back to having zero to insufficient health care instantly.

And he knows that perfectly well too.

Well, he IS referencing Ann Coulter, so he obviously lacks a grip on cognizant critical thought.

Maine considers bill to allow dying patients to use experimental drugs.

Pathetic that there's even a debate on this issue.

House ObamaCare replacement expands HSAs, replaces subsidies with tax credits ... http://tinyurl.com/gpvsk7g

How do you spell betrayal?  This is just another tax cut for the mega rich.  As in Brexit the ordinary Joes who voted for Trump are the ones that are going to get hit the hardest.  He tried to warn them with his message of "I'm the most incompetent and negative candidate to come along in your lifetime" but they just wouldn't listen.

Powerful conservative groups line up against House GOP health plan

Heritage calls it 'bad policy.' FreedomWorks pans it as 'Obamacare-lite.' And the Club for Growth called it a 'warmed-over substitute for government-run health care.'

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/trump-health-care-plan-tweets-235761

Was out in the yard working this PM.  When I came in had a robocall on the answering machine to press 1 to let my senator know I am opposed to Obamacare Light.  I pressed delete instead.

Apparently the extremist forces are unleashed already.

One thing I know is the large number of extremist Republican, Tea Party, Obama haters who actually benefit from all these programs they want ended.

Case in point is Medicaid.  Their parents are often recipients of Medicaid services, to include nursing home care, because these extremist don't want to pay the bills.

Same for ACA, Medicare, etc.
