Russian embassy calls Trudeau's criticism of Putin 'confrontational'

Trudeau said on Wednesday during a Toronto press conference that Putin needs to start playing a more positive role in the world on a variety of fronts, from Ukraine, to Syria, to the Arctic, as well as answering for Russia's role in the nerve gas attack in Britain two weeks ago.

Meanwhile the world wonders: when will Donald Trump stop hiding like a mouse in a hole and actually call out Vladimir Putin for his actions?

Answer: Dream on. Not while Putin has something on him.

How Canada became an education superpower-

"...Canada was one of a handful of countries to appear in the top 10 for maths, science and reading.

The tests, run by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), are a major study of educational performance and show Canada's teenagers as among the best educated in the world.....

This has been a bumper year for education in Canada.

The universities are reaping the benefits of the Trump effect, with record levels of applications from overseas students seeing Canada as a North American alternative to the United States.

There has also been a Canadian winner of the Global Teacher Prize, with Maggie MacDonnell using the award to campaign for indigenous students.

As Canada marks its 150th anniversary, it can claim the status of an education superpower.

It's refreshing to find a posting on this thread that has something positive to say about Canada, especially since, as we all know, that is not the intention of the originator of this thread.

What a great interviewer you posted here, Jake, from such a tolerant news source. She has difficulty finding people in the streets of Toronto who look "Canadian." To her, they look "African."

The lady's not so subtle message: there are too many dark skinned people in this Canadian city. I guess she can hardly wait to get back to Witchita.

Katie Hopkins is total trash. She was a reality TV "star" in the UK, and has done everything in her power to stretch that dubious fame, by adopting a far-right, white nationalist, western cultural superiority position. She's a race baiter and a fearmonger of the lowest order. So there's no surprise that she appeals to some people.

I never heard of the lady, Lawrence, but her "Everyone here looks African" comment had me wondering "Where the hell did that stupid comment come from?" and I've been in the city a few zillion times over the years.
