Halloween costumes?  Better things to complain about.  This country is going to go down in history as the most offended ever.  We need a name change, OSA ...the Offended States of America.

To me using blackface for a Halloween costume is fine and in no way tied to the use of blackface in films and shows back in the day.

Silly people need to get a life.    This applies to both the left and the right (e.g. being offended by the Starbucks Holiday cup!).

not to the denigrated. certainly it would have been no minor affair to the pilgrims.

Well the pilgrims were a rather over sensitive bunch with a

large authoritarian streak--you did it their way or you hit the

high road. But to the average rational person, being a slave

is far worse then having your beliefs denigrated.

These thread are like playing telephone. We started out talking about rude behavior on campuses, and now we are dragging the pilgrims into this.

Student who did the hunger strike at Univ. of Missouri has a father who is an executive with a railroad co. who makes over 8 million a year with a purported net worth of approximately 20 million. Seems his daddy has done ok.

“These are the same people who claim they are seeking diversity. The last thing many of these students want is real diversity, diversity of ideas. They may want superficial diversity, diversity of gender, diversity of color, but they don’t want diversity of ideas.”

They want diversity under a total control state.

Princeton Students Take Over President’s Office, Demand Erasure Of Woodrow Wilson

Princeton is a joke. These radicals should be immediately expelled with no recourse. Weak administrators.

That's the trouble with college today. These damn

kids go there and pick up some U.S. history. The nerve.

I'm all for students picking up history, with all its warts.

I'm not all for students picking up attitudes that allow them to dictate who should be hired and fired. These kids are nothing but spoiled brats.

That's okay. In ten years they'll be solid citizens.

These things are mostly a tempest in a teacup.

It is the administrators that have picked up attitudes that make them resign because of pressure from students.

Yes, these kids are spoiled brats.   What I don't understand is why administrators are giving in to them.

When I was there, the student body was probably the least radical in the Ivy League.

Well you see that is a micro-aggression comment since it implies a women can't be an administrator.    Now you're going to have to step down.

At Williams, a liberal arts school in western Massachusetts, President Adam Falk expressed frustration when a student group last month canceled a speaking invitation for writer Suzanne Venker, a critic of feminism. Picking up on a theme from a convocation address earlier in the semester, he wrote to the campus community that learning cannot occur without exposure to a wide range of ideas.

"Academic discourse consists of reasoned arguments. We simply wish to present our own reasoned arguments and engage you and other senior administrators in dialogue. We will not occupy your office, and, though we respectfully request a minimum of an hour of your time, we will only stay for as long as you wish. We will conduct ourselves in the civil manner that is our hope to maintain and reinforce as the norm at Princeton".

Now these students are future leaders of the country.

"Most are, rather, victims of the very large admissions preferences that set up racial-minority students for academic struggle at the selective universities that have cynically misled them into thinking they are well qualified to compete with classmates who are, in fact, far stronger academically".

Just read where university athletic directors are wanting to charge every student up to $350 in "athletic fees" each year, whether they go to games or not.  This is not the same as fees to participate in athletics.  It would result in millions of dollars extra for athletic departments each year.

Conservative justices expressed deep doubt on Wednesday about a university student admissions policy that gives preferences to racial minorities during a testy U.S. Supreme Court session in a case that could decide the fate of programs aimed at fostering racially diverse campuses.
