Jake's Trump Thread -- Make America Great Again

It's funny how when people say how despicable and deceiving the Clinton's are they bring up all the despicable and deceiving Republicans. I guess that as good as can be expected, I can live with that.

Yes,  that is a common tactic most partisans use at this site as well as others;   the old 'well they did it too' or 'what they did was worst'.

After he wasted lives like the preceding two Dem Presidents. Or have you never heard of the 1970 Cambodia incursion or the 1972 Christmas bombings of Hanoi? And, remember, he declared during the 1968 campaign that he had a "secret plan" to end the war. It took him almost his entire ill-fated presidency to implement it.

And Kissinger had to talk him out of using nuclear weapons - AFTER he won his re-election.  Nixon: "I just want you to think big, Henry, for Christsakes."

Dec 1972 Nixon to Kissinger on Cambodia ... "I want everything that can fly to go in there and crack the hell out of them.  There is no limitation on mileage and there is no limitation on budget.  Is that clear?

Yeah, HUGEly disappointed! LOL. Oh, well. He'll probably run again next round.........

I don't know. Maybe 2012, when there was a groundswell of

support for Christie, was his year and he decided to stay out.

That might have been his chance. Four years from now who

knows where he'll be. I wouldn't be surprised if he ran again,

but I don't know if he'll do all that well. He might want to take

some anger management classes sometime in the next four

years.

The Trickster was responsible for over a third of U.S. deaths in

Vietnam. And he barely ended the war before his reelection.

And then a few years later North Vietnam conquered South

Vietnam. So Nixon wasted four years and 22,000 lives for an

outcome he could have had in 1969, though that outcome

would have been a politically unacceptable one. Vietnam was

united, but not in the way that the U.S. wanted.

In this case, it was a witch hunt.  Regardless of what office he held or what he said, how many American men have been investigated for "inability to keep one's fly zipped" other than in divorce court in this type situatio?  None.

If you are in a position as visible as President of the U.S., you should make an effort a bit greater than those ending up in divorce court to keep  your fly zipped up.

As despicable and deceiving as Nixon was He did end the war.

Not exactly.  He pulled most (not all) of the US troops out, but the war itself continued until South Vietnam finally fell.  Two marines died in 1975.  It fell because Congress had tired of it and saw that it never could be won so they refused any more aid in 1975 when Ford was president.  Of course Nixon and Kissenger had promised to aid South Vietnam if attacked by North, but didn't happen - nor did N & K expect it to.

Sounds very similar to how Obama handled Iraq.

Wrong.  Pres Obama carried out the agreement that Pres. Bush had made with Iraq and Obama tried to negotiate with the Iraqi leader that Bush had selected.  The Iragi government would not agree to a new SOFA, whereas the SOFA in South Vietnam was never an issue.  Furthermore, the Iraqi government wanted the US troops out, whereas the South Vietnamese government wanted the US military to stay.

You're really an Obama apologist, as well as hyper partisan.

As despicable and deceiving as Nixon was He did end the war.

Tricky Dick lengthen and enlarged the Vietnam War with the Cambodian Incursion.

It wasn't so much that Nixon ended the war, as it was that we had to get out of Dodge before it all fell on top of us.

" We barely made the runway for the last plane out

As we taxied down that runway I could hear those people shout

don't come back here Yankee"

It was pretty ugly and pathetic at the end. But you're right, Nixon did end it

What’s Mike Pence Got to Offer Trump? Billionaire Backers--

The Indiana governor maintains close ties with the Koch network and other wealthy Republicans.

http://billmoyers.com/story/whats-mike-pence-got-offer-trump-billionaire-backers/

$$$$

The Koch brothers bought Kansas, when they bought Sam Brownback.

Kansas will be the model for the whole United States.

And now they're in the process of buying the United States-- they already have Mike Pence on a string.

‘Never Trump’ Dies With a Whimper in Rules Committee

CLEVELAND — The “Never Trump” movement died with a whimper Thursday night. And to be clear: There was never a bang to begin with. After months of hype — and weeks of misleading media narratives — the efforts to derail Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention ended abruptly and undramatically here during a marathon meeting of the Convention Rules Committee.

No more of this nonsense. It's been put to bed for good.

Along with your potential viewing audience. A convention challenge -- no matter the outcome -- would have provided real drama, watercooler material for the entire week and surefire ratings.

Is anyone going to stick around to hear Tiffany Trump talk about her dad?

I guess Sarah Palin and Rick Perry weren't available so Trump picked the next best option (Pence?) . Where do they (republican party) find these people? And who are the idiots who  originally elected  these morons to be Governor of their states?  TRUMPUS CLUELESS MORONICUS

Not all that similar. I don't think Obama said he had  a

secret plan to get out of Iraq, and there was no enemy trying

to conquer Iraq, except for latecomer ISIS and they're

not doing too well right now. As far as numbers go,

Nixon was responsible for a little over a third of the

U.S. deaths in Vietnam, whereas Obama is responsible

for about six percent of deaths in Iraq, and of course

a lot more American soldiers died in Vietnam than in

Iraq.

Let's call the "war with Iraq" what it really was, "the unnecessary,  illegal , counter productive war created by the outright lies of the criminal Bush/Chaney administration" . Comparing the death tolls between  Iraq and Vietnam can be misleading. Many soldiers seriously wounded in Iraq survived because  of  the advanced medical techniques available today (and a more quick,  intense response to aid those wounded), things not available to our fellows during Vietnam.  Of course we have a very large number of those "non dead" from Iraq who now have very serious and often permanent disabilities from those battlefield injuries.  Which means we as a nation should be sparing no expense to provide for the ongoing care for our veterans. But that will take money, lots of it. And heaven forbid we should have to ask the well healed to pay something more in taxes to help meet those expenses.  The oil billionaire Koch brothers for example, they continue to benefit from the oil revenues. Instead of spending  countless billions to  buy out and corrupt the  nation's  political system why not  contribute that money to the veterans who they (and people like Jake)  profess to honor so much?  And people like Donald Trump are a big part of that hypocrisy.

Mike Pence is The Decaffeinated Rush Limbaugh

Heard a so-called liberal commentator on the PBS News Hour this evening state that people described Mike Pence as a decaffeinated Rush Limbaugh when he was on the radio. This commentator acted as if that was a compliment.

Then the commentator went on to say that Mike Pence had even apologized for some attack ads that he had approved in a campaign. Wasn't that warm and fuzzy.

What I'm hearing is --it's okay to have the same views as Rush Limbaugh, if you're polite when you state them.

This is the same sort of thing we're hearing from Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan - - it's okay that Donald Trump is a racist and sexist as long as he doesn't make statements to that effect too much in public .

That ugly smell in the air is called mendacious hypocrisy.

That tells you a lot about the Republicans who are still left in the Republican Party, who are still willing to support Donald Trump.

They're saying more or less that Donald Trump can go against their core beliefs, as long as he doesn't smear it in their faces and in the face of the public.

Trying to eek out a win with that kind of strategy is not only pathetic-- it is un-American.
