Captain Blood and other great Pirate films?

33 posts in this topic

How about "seafaring yarns" that are not about pirates or naval combat, but are other forms of adventure on the high seas?

I love the 1953 whaling/treasure hunting movie "All the Brothers Were Valiant", with Robert Taylor and Stewart Granger.

Also like "The World in His Arms" with Gregory Peck and Anthony Quinn about sealers and Russian princesses in Alaska.

And John Wayne in "Wake of the Red Witch"

There are two films in which the dashing Gerard Barray plays the buccaneer known as "Surcouf"

I would have to rank them as pretty near or at the top of my favoirite seagoing swashbuckler list, although I have to admit I have never seen one of this type of film that I didn't like.
