The Director's Cut of "54" is superior to the released film.

Ramon Navarro takes a bath- I know this is pre-code but aren't  these guys a bit old to have someone wash them?

Yes, but they needed a male attendant - to refresh the water.

Kino Lorber is just releasing a DVD double bill of Douglas Fairbanks westerns. One of these was presented at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival of 2013 uploaded below. The Half-Breed gained some notoriety after being included in Daniel Blum's A Pictorial History of the Silent Screen (1953) for showing just a little bit more of Fairbanks than even The Thief Of Baghdad, although that one has him flaunting his shirtless abs throughout. At the beginning of this presentation, we are given at least four different archival prints to compare "tan lines". Oh yes, be sure to read the title cards carefully without smirking: "Sleeping Water grew to manhood with an education unusual to that time and place... and a growing virility and grace..."

Great butt, but I also loved seeing him with longer hair. I've always loved that look on Gary Cooper too, in Marco Polo and The Plainsman. Both guys looked great well-groomed, Cooper especially, but the shaggy look is actually more of a turn-on for me.

My favorite Hall-of-Famer, Gary Cooper. The camera loved him, both formal portraits and more candid shots.

My wife saw Desire with Cooper and Dietrich and for the first time and made a comment about how handsome Cooper was.    The film was released in 1937 and how the film was shot and the make-up and clothes the stars wore they were both at their 'peak' in this film.

Just another quick Gary Cooper fix. I always wanted to post this somewhere because it's so dreamy, so I guess I'll do it here.

In his early days, Gary Cooper's beauty was extraordinary.

It's a pity that his face grew coarser as he aged. He always had the good looks, but only what I would call true beauty in the early decades of his long career. But I suppose that's true of most of us. And anyway, the early beauty could never have done something like High Noon.
